situated on a bluff overlooking the valley at Turrialba, the views are lovely from the reception/restaurant area and a few of the rooms. we had a room below the aforementioned, which was much more private (bonus), but lacked said views (not a huge deal since there is a restaurant patio to go to); we did have our own private porch, which was very lovely, especially at night. The room was clean and spacious enough, but the bed was fairly uncomfortable (to be fair my husband and i are in our 40s and i have back and hip issues and my husband has shoulder issues, so this may not be an issue to some; also, if not an extended stay one could surely deal with it). The price was fair relative to surrounding properties (really in all of Costa Rica that i've been). The property is near Turrialba, where one can whitewater raft and find other activities (i highly recommend a trip down the Rio Pacuare). It is not really walking distance to town (maybe, but there doesn't seem to be a good route - maybe ask if there's a trail, but coming back will be all uphill). There is free parking on site and we had no issues with that.||The thing that stands out about this property above all else is the restaurant!!!!! The service is phenomenal and the food...there aren't words that haven't been dulled by overuse to describe how great the food here is!!! They really go to lengths to provide local, artisan dishes...and omg the drinks. we dined here about 5 times and each had something different each time - i can't even recommend a dish because it is ALL incredible. i can say that the margaritas are delectable and the sangria is the best i've ever had - she even gave me a spoon for the fruit salad that was in the drink. i watched the server create each drink with so much care that even though i wanted so many more i didn't order more than one per visit because it was so "labor intensive"! it was our first stop in the country this time and we never had any food near as good as what they offer here! Even if you don’t stay here, I believe the restaurant is open to the...

We stayed last night. We booked the room for three nights and left after the first night. I have allergies to mold and couldn’t sleep- the sheets/pillows smelled moldy. The room had small transom windows with no screens that let the bugs in. There was no overhead fan or fan of any kind. |The mattress was a single mattress on a platform and very uncomfortable. The towels were rough and gray. There wasn’t any decent shampoo. Photos posted are of our room and bath. No refrigerator in the room. There was only one other couple staying there that night. We got in late - at 6:30 pm and there didn’t seem to be anywhere nearby for dinner. |The owner is extremely nice and tried to be accommodating. If you want a budget hotel with a beautiful view this may be for you. Breakfast was okay. I have multiple food intolerances- and admittedly did not let them know. Eggs with ham and toast were served and there was no other option for breakfast. She offered to make me beans and rice the next day. Although we decided to leave. |The hotel photos exaggerate the size of the deck. It is a large deck but not as spacious as the photos appear. The room was very utilitarian. Very...

This little gem is just a few minutes outside (or above) Turrialba. The rooms were small and had no AC (but then again you don't really need it in the mountains), but clean and well furbished. We had a nice little balcony with a beautiful view.||We loved the terrace with the hammock and the rocking chairs. There was free wifi as well.||Gerardina was a gracious hostess and prepared us the best breakfast we had on our whole Costa Rica trip.||A special mention goes to the two dogs and the cat of the house (if you have an allergy, beware!). I had so much fun playing with them, I could have smuggled them home ;)||My only critism would be that the walls are paper thin, so you here everything going on in the house (luckily there were only 2 other guests) and the road in front of the house is pretty busy til late at night, so you have quite a bit of noise from that.||That being said, I really, really enjoyed my stay and would come...

Very welcoming, feel like home. Clean, comfortable beds, and beautiful view. Breakfast was delicious, different each morning, and included with our stay. We enjoyed the 8 nights we stayed here, in the room with a fully equipped kitchen. There are other rooms, with private bathroom, and others with a kitchenette (mini kitchen). Parking on-site. Wifi was pretty good. About 50 minutes to Turrialba Volcano, and a bit longer to the Irazu. Definitely recommend.

We booked an overnight stay fairly last minute - was a gem of a place - great food, great service, great views and some very cute and friendly greeters (see photos) - located close to Guayabo National Monument (an under appreciated archaeological wonder) and the Aquiares coffee and community (excellent tours)

Beautiful location with amazing views of the surrounding valley. Rooms look out on to the view. Beautiful veranda to watch the numerous birds. Wonderful dog named chichi that welcomed us. Food was amazing and the staff were friendly.
