I stayed here for four nights with my brother. Overall, I recommend this hostel, but it's important to set your expectations accordingly.
Pros: Amazing games room with table tennis, table football, and a pool table in adequate condition. Rooms are well-equipped with everything you need, including AC, which is great in the heat. Decent value for the price and plenty of space in the hostel. Good common areas to hang out. A kitchen is available for use. Conveniently located next to Maxi Pali, the cheapest supermarket. You can pay by card with no transaction fees.
Cons: Located on the edge of town with no clear sidewalk, making nighttime walks on the main road necessary. But still not too far from the beach. -Kitchen was a bit dirty most of our stay, and no where obvious to store groceries. The vibe was a bit strange. We were with other guests we knew and had fun, but we only saw one or two other guests. Communication with the owner was also a bit off. Previous reviews mentioned free laundry, but we were told there wasn't anymore. Laundry service was offered at $20, which seemed expensive, so we hand-washed our clothes. However, we were told we couldn't hang our clothes outside to dry, which was inconvenient. And that we were not allowed to hand wash. We were frequently reminded of rules by the hosts, being told that the owner has seen us on camera and that is against hostel rules. Despite never being given these rules! So we sometimes felt watched by the unseen "boss." This included issues like putting things on the pool table or having a friend over to play table tennis. They seemed upset that we had a friend from outside to play a game, and were told it costs extra money to have someone visit. First time I've heard this in a hostel. And was communicated in an abrupt way. Eventually it seemed like there were lots of unwritten rules. Completely understandable, but these need to be communicated in advance. -The last night it rained heavy and there was a large leak above my head on the top bunk. And my bed got completely wet. I guess that's the downside of staying in a shipping container style room; obviously should be an easy fix but spoiled a night.
Overall would still recommend to stay due to the value, it's just a shame our stay was tempered slightly. However now you know what to expect, I'm sure you'll have a positive experience.
EDIT for hostel response:
With regards to the kitchen, there was no indication that there was a second kitchen. It wasn't very dirty, however the fact that there was hardly anyone staying at the hostel and still wasn't the cleanest was disappointing. However good to know future people won't have that issue with two kitchens to use.
Granted, fair response to my comment of strange atmosphere. I suspect it felt that way for us after being told multiple times that we were being watched on camera. However the general facilities were adequate. And as I positively stated the games room was great fun.
To note, we were not the only guests 'breaking' the rules. There were 5 of us playing table tennis and getting excited after 10pm. However after being informed by the host, we complied with rules.
The hosts were fair and responsive. It just felt strange being told that 'the boss said...' multiple times. Hence my comment on the owner. However, granted that may be an unfair view.
Also, the leak was on the last night so I couldn't have informed you to change rooms. The fact it happened should not occur in my opinion. It was a large leak too. But I understand every building has wear and tear.
Finally regarding the laundry there were multiple previous reviews on Google about the 'free laundry'. Both us and our friend who told us about the hostel were expecting free laundry. However it is true when booking we were not told this. Honest misunderstanding. But not being allowed to hand wash is not acceptable in a hostel, in my opinion.
However, overall I would still recommend this hostel. We still had a decent time. I simply wanted to review for setting...

This is a great place to be if you are looking for an affordable place that's clean and comfortable; an absolutely amazing place to have access to El Coco or just relax and hide away.
You are minutes away from the beach. Totally walkable, but also a really cheap cab ride if you don't have your own ride.
Should you take family? Well I'd suggest you take a whole crowd. This place has the potential to host a family reunion if you wanted too. There are several room options as well as tons of community space that is fully capable of providing space to relax and offer some entertainment.

Multiple shopping areas and restaurants are close by and you are more than able to navigate on foot if preferred. Downtown beach front is maybe a 15-20 minute walk. More private beaches are minutes by car and deffinitly worth the drive to see.
Where would be a good place to fly into? Liberia international Airport is about a 30-45 minutes away depending on traffic.
If your goal is the pacific coast and beaches, the Nirimo Hotel and Studios would make a great option as your home base while you go out and explore. Your also close enough to to Liberia and the surrounding area to make day trips to some local sites including the La...
Read moreThis is by far the best hostel I have ever been to 🙏🏽 The hosts - Andrés & Anahiem - are the kindest people and very welcoming. The rooms are clean, spacious and cute as well! The whole place is decorated with so much love and is just a little paradise for travelers. The container style makes it very unique! It’s very sweet to just cook and hang out there, to play some pool or table tennis or to jump into the little pool! To downtown and the beach it’s just about 15-20 minutes by foot which is absolutely doable!
I would always come back to Nirimo!...
