Wow, did we get lucky tonight!!! We were here two years ago and experience the wonderful food, cocktails service in view of this gem. Now we're back with friends and we had to take them. I did not realize they were closed for remodel. So we drove up tonight. All excited and went barging in to realize they were in the middle of a remodel. We asked if we could just stay out of their way and go to the terrace and watch the sunset. The owner said absolutely! So we were over there minding our business when he approached us and said, we are revamping the menu for our grand reopening in October, October 15. He said, would you guys be willing to taste some of our new dishes. We asked are you kidding??? They set up a table for the four of us. We enjoyed the sunset, and had the most amazing food. And I'm not lying when I say one of the dishes that we sampled was a burger. It didn't even have cheese on it and it was the best burger I've ever had in my life. I thought Americans knew how to make burgers lol. We also had a grouper meal with all the sides, and fried avocado with the yummiest sauce!!! oh, and let's talk about the waffle fries. For those of you that know what Chick Fil A is. You will throw those fries away. Ha ha ha ha ha. These were the crispiest crunchiest most ridiculously good fries ever!! Thank you to Carlos and the staff. Mucho grande appreciation!!!

Is this place the easiest to get to in Coco? No. Is this place large and full of big tables with tons of seating? Again, no. But is this place worth the effort of making a reservation and making the trip up the mountain and making it there just in time to see the most beautiful sunset you've ever seen? Absolutely! We had an incredible dining experience at The Lookout in El Coco. From start to finish, our server, Carlos, impressed us with his skill and professionalism—knowledgeable about the menu, attentive without being intrusive, and warm in a way that made the whole evening feel special. The ambiance is exactly what you hope for in Costa Rica—relaxed yet refined, with touches of tradition that set the perfect scene for an unforgettable meal. We ordered the red snapper specials (one blackened, one with pistachio sauce), the tuna tartare that truly melted in your mouth, and perfectly prepared octopus. Every dish was beautifully presented, paired with fantastic drinks (courtesy of Gabriel) that made the evening even more enjoyable. Normally they’re closed on Sundays, but we were lucky to catch them open for the weekend—and what a treat it was! This will absolutely be a must-visit every time I’m in Coco.

We picked The Lookout for our last meal in Costa and the whole team there did not disappoint!! We had 8 people in our party and they were able to seat us at the last table available. There’s only five or six tables so either get a reservation or get lucky! All of the food was fantastic and by far the best meal we had in Ocotal, Coco, or Hermosa. Yes, they had run out of the snapper, but we took that to show that their food is fresh and when they run out, they run out. Steaks were all great. A little undercooked compared to US norms, so order medium-well if the pink is not your thing. Fish soup was such a treat! We tried almost everything on the menu and each one hit. Tomahawk was huge, apps were all great. Everyone found something for them, even the vegetarian. Get the espresso martini for dessert! We will be back. Pura Vida! PS- take the road in from HWY 51? The main road/hwy into town.

Go for the views, especially at sunset, but expect a subpar service from the waiter. Party of four, ordered cocktails right when we sat down. The menus consisted of printed pages in a manila folder, completely different from the laminated and colorful menu from 6 months ago. Maybe they're changing menus? Dunno but it didn’t look professional.

The restaurant was almost full but not crowded. We were greeted by D. -the waiter- and he spent the next 45 minutes serving other tables and apologizing for not having time to get our order. This was spotted by the bartender who proactively came to our rescue as he saw our frustration growing. He prepared our drinks and we had them an hour after we sat down. This is when D. decided that enough was enough and, after taking pictures of tourists in the balcony, he came back to ask us what we wanted without noticing we already had the drinks on the table. We asked for the check and left.

Shoutout to the bartender who was correcting waiter left and right, and also waiting tables because at least one of them actually showed up to work.

We were prepared to order some food but in the end decided against it.

I've been to this place several times before and service has been good overall. This is how I know that this time, the entire experience was very...

From our experience before we decided to come back. But unfortunately the 2nd time around the experience was not up to the same standard. The waiter was not very attentive. The menu says to be specific and “chef loves a challenge” and last time this was upheld and I was very satisfied. But during my 2nd visit I asked for no Mayo on my nachos and asked for a substitute sauce for my nachos but the manger specifically told me that she would NOT ask the chef to make a different sauc because they were “too busy” Although the menu says “chef loves a challenge”. The dish they brought was basically a saggy plate of nachos with cucumber and quac. I would hope to see this place honor their standards and keep their word on wanting a challenge and being more accommodating to the customers. And the pricing is through the roof. Busy or not the standards and attention to detail should remain the same when charging 5 star prices…… but the view was nice

TO RESPOND… I did not ask for a vegan sauce or a vegan dish. I just asked for no mayo. But instead you guys brought my dish out with NO SOYA NO TOMATOES NO JALAPEÑOS NO SESAME SEEDS. And also if you are too busy then you should say “no challenge for the chef during busy hours”. Also a alternative sauce is the easiest thing to make for a chef. Note...
