Working in the hospitality industry for years now, I would say that we were DEEPLY disappointed by our stay at Hyla Nature.
The service and amenities are the worst I have ever experienced for a few years :
After a long drive, we felt alone to cary on our luggages with all the stairs under the hot sun. No one asked us if we needed assistance. Unfortunately I’m having back troubles and I was not expecting to climb so many stairs. We let the team know we were here through what’s app but no one showed up.
We picked this place because it was kinda isolated and we wanted to do a nature retreat and stay there 48 hours. How disappointed we were when we have been told that there was no restaurant for 1 month already and that we needed to take our car and manage food by ourself. There was even no delivery option despite what they told us in their email.
Talking about the ability to enjoy the place : there is absolutely no shade around the pool so the only option is to sit in our tent or on a wooden chair at the bar where there was no Coke Zero, no sparkling water (basic drinks mentioned on the menu). There are no mattresses on the sunbed which make the experience SUPER UNCOMFORTBALE. Finally the super loud « hard core music » in a nature retreat place seems not to match with the rest experience we were expecting booking this place.
Talking at our experience with your staff, they don’t speak a word of English and are super rude as they can’t even say good morning when they cross you even in their own language !!!
When we arrived at the breakfast the table was SUPER dirty, she started to put all the food on it and I needed to ask for a clean up of the table. Again basic.
Talking about the breakfast we thought it was a joke when we received a bowl of chia seeds and 2 slide of bred for a $220 dollars a night?? I think the summum was the broken bowl I’ve been served in.
Last but not least, in the tent, the taps and shower head were obsolete and dirty.
ALL what I described was like everything has been put in place for customers not enjoying the hotel (no shade/umbrella, no restaurant, sometime no ones at the bar, heavy music, no comfortable sunbed).
But the worst part come now : don't forget to bring ear plug with you. The wind in the tent make it impossible to sleep at night.
I do not recommend this place. There are plenty of hotel much more luxurious with a friendly staff in the...
Read morewell maintained property. The pool was meticulously clean and Wilson gets the pool cleaned daily in the early morning. Views from the pool during sunset and sunrise were breathtaking. I know they stated that they only offer complimentary breakfast service. However, if you are somebody like me who’d rather try something homemade instead of driving to a restaurant. I’d ask Carmen to prepare your lunch at a super reasonable price. She cooked lunch for me for two days and I absolutely loved it. They were both amazing. I enjoyed talking with them through a translator, I know it’s dumb but I like that we can talk and communicate thanks to the modern technology. The property manager-Eyner is so laid back. He also operates a horse back riding experience. I did it with him for a private tour, totally in love with it. You got to visit the farm. Meet the family who runs the farm, make your own tortillas and so much more. The trip last for three hours and they offer some refreshments as well. It was also a very nice ride into the mountains, the wetland and farm. Book with Eyner, it’s totally worth it. Also couple personal thoughts to pass on to ppl who are planning yo visit Costa Rica. I booked my trip real early and it’s not really until I was about yo depart that I found out online it says September and October are the of the rainiest and worst months to visit Costa Rica. I was kinda disappointed about it, the more I read and the less I expect. However, it shocked me that for the past week I was in Costa Rica, it did rain but it only rained after sunset around 6pm ish. I got beautiful sunny dry weather throughout the day, so do not get scared and plan something during rain season because it’s still considered low season with less tourists and it costs less too. Also, you need a four wheel drive car for sure! The road condition in Costa Rica...
Read moreDISRESPECTFUL AND UNSAFETY PLACE: We are a couple on our honeymoon, we arrived with null reception by the host, the co-host arrived after 30 minutes to the supposed reception. The place is on the top, it is dry, it is not well maintained, there are rusty tin plates and garbage bags outside, the photos are misleading, the infinity pool is small 2x3mt approx for the 4 tents in the enclosure. The rooms are dirty and the attention is worse than in a $10USD hostel (and I have stayed in this places). The reception confirms that there are no people during the day to attend to the needs of the guests and they do not comply with the security measures for covid19 (co-host does not wear a mask in any place). The worst thing was that when we asked for a refund no one answered the phone or messages, we lost all day trying to communicate and when we did they told us that they would not refund anything. All this experience for $260USD a night. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A ROMANTIC AND WELL ATTENDED PLACE DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY IN THIS PLACE better go to Tamarindo where you will find clean places, good attention and with reception for...
