We give them 10/10 and highly recommend!!! If you are interested in diving - this is the place to be. My boyfriend and I are big scuba divers, and so we wanted to find a place that was close to Catalina Islands (we visited during Manta Season) for our 1 month Costa Rica trip. We chose Horizon lodge as it was situated in a small town called Potrero - this is directly opposite the Catalinas islands. Little did we know that Christian, was a diving instructor with a boat, that could cover our accommodation and diving needs. The diving set up was perfect. We would wake up, go down stairs, organize our gear, in 5 mins we were at the water, and 20 mins diving Catalinas. Many people will stay in Tamarindo or Flamingo and have to travel to Potrero or Flamingo to get on the boat and get to the Islands. Christian's rental diving gear is in fantastic condition. If you're looking to get your diving qualification, you can also work with Christian, he has a beautiful pool, which was designed to do the pool skills required for your Open Water certification. Nadia would send us off with freshly baked cake every day, this made the diving even better! Her lemon cake is delicious and her baking is famous among the diving community. As hosts, Christian and Nadia are wonderful. They were so thoughtful and gave the guests bubbles for Valentine's day, and baked my boyfriend a cake for his birthday. They ensure that you are happy and your needs are catered for all the time, and very often, go above and beyond. The apartment truly became a second home. It's extremely modern, very clean and well equipped with EVERYTHING you need. Both my boyfriend and I have successfully both worked in the space for the past 8 weeks (I take a lot of conference calls so was able to do so from the desk in the bedroom while he worked in the living / dining area). The bed is very comfortable and the TV in the bedroom is a smart Tv so we've been able to hook up Netflix. The bathroom is massive and I've loved having two different options for showering (rain shower head and hand held) and two bathroom sinks! It's been a luxury to have the pool downstairs (separate to the diving pool) and the hot tub. The sun sets you are able to enjoy from the apartments are stunning. One of my favorite things to do is jump in the hot tub at 5:30pm and watch the sun set. There is also a fantastic work out area with two TRX, yoga mats, kettle bells and kick boxing bag - we used this 3-4 times per week! The mornings are the best time to work out as its much cooler. We also utilized their driveway to do sprints! This place is the ideal get-away, which allows you to work remotely and scuba dive the best location off of...

If you’re looking for a solid place to stay in Costa Rica, this is hands down one of the best places you can stay. The location is prime, as it’s tucked right into the hillside in the Petrero area. Absolutely stunning bay and sunset views from the porch/hot tub/pool. About 30 minutes walking to the nearest beach (Playa Penca) and less a 5 minute drive.

Chris and Nadia have created one of the best places for you and/or your loved ones to stay while visiting CR. The complex is very modern and well maintained. This 4 apartment complex is gated and well off the main road (Route 911). Not to mention, they are the most helpful hosts you could ever ask for. Anything you need with and they will respond and help you quickly within minutes. Overall, just very solid folks. This spot is so quiet and peaceful, the only sounds you will hear are the birds, rain, or slight breeze. This is a true get-away, made to feel like paradise (because it is).

Additionally, this is a very affordable rental for however long you want to stay (7 nights cost ~$850). Significantly less than resort prices. But the amenities that you get here are beyond top tier and beat any of the high dollar resort alternatives. I don’t like big resorts where you don’t get the chance to explore the local culture and true heart of a place. Staying at Horizon allowed us to go be a part of the community as well as being a hop and a skip from everything you want out of a visit to Costa Rica (authentic restaurants, beaches, National Parks, and the list goes on).

I would rate this spot an 11/10 and HIGHLY recommend. Such a special place that I will sure to be coming...

Wow! We just spent two nights at Chris and Nadia's slice of heaven and wish that we had planned to stay longer. You are perched at the top of a hill overlooking the waters of Flamingo. The view is priceless--especially at sunset...from their infinity pool! It is a short drive down to the beach and we were worried that that would be an issue with our kids but they were just fine. The rooms are modern, clean and absolutely perfect. Each of the four units have kitchens with everything you could need from blenders to coffee makers and everything in between. Satellite tv is also available but we didn't use it. There is also a covered deck with lounges ||Chris is also the owner of Chris Diving Center so for all of you certified divers out there who want to dive the Catalina area, it doesn't get e convenient than this. Our family, as well as the one traveling with us, opted for his sunset snorkling excursion which was phenomenal! We were taken by boat to private beaches which we were able to explore in between snorkling sessions. Also included in the trip are sandwiches, fruit and AMAZING lemon cake made by Chris' wife, Nadia. We were lucky enough to see dolphin and sea turtles from the boat on our way back, all while watching the beautiful Costa Rican sunset over the water. ||If you're looking for a must-stay on your trip to the Guanacaste area, Horizon Lodge is...

I've been to many places around the world and this place is one of the best places I've stayed at! This place exceeded my expectations. I stayed in the condo on the 2nd floor with a stunning ocean view and surrounded by lush green forest with a private jacuzzi on the balcony where you could sip a cold drink overlooking the ocean. I'm a big nature and ocean lover and I absolutely love this place! It was so nice and peaceful away from the noise...and get a more authentic experience of Costa Rica. And yet still close to beaches, supermarkets, restaurants and activities/sightseeing spots and not far from Tamarindo. The place itself is new and was clean with all the facilities/amenities I needed. And I was able to work remotely while I stayed there. The host Christian and his family (and their dogs) were amazing...they did everything they could to make you feel at home and were always there to help if you needed anything. It's been a while since I experienced such an outstanding hospitality like I did in this place which says a lot coming from someone who travels a lot. I highly recommend staying there. Thank you so much for everything!

Loved this off the beaten path place. Very quiet with only 4 apartments, immaculately clean, well designed for views and privacy. They provide coffee, tea, oil, salt, and pepper with adequate kitchen supplies. Infinity pool, workout platform, and views galore! I appreciated the king-size bed (a rarity here). The owners are very helpful. As an American, I'd suggest a car here. There are no sidewalks, so walking is treacherous, although many people do it. We had sunset views, so the uphill drive is worth it, and we got see wildlife as well: desert foxes and colorful birds. This location worked well to explore the area south to Tamarindo and north to Playa Hermosa. The north road has a lot standing water to cross in 2 places (it's dry season even), so I'd recommend a SUV.
