La Quebrada Lodge — Hotel in Tempate

We stayed at LA Quebrada Lodge Resort for 5 nights in the Carmincita Lodge. |The resort is very attractive, rustic lodges around a central pool in a secure gated development.|The accommodation is within walking distance to some soda type restaurants, a local supermarket, and Potrero and Penca Beach.|The lodges are well equipped for self-catering catering and have good facilities.|There are a few things that I didn't like about this place, and I feel it is important for other travelers to be made aware. |There is quite a bit of construction close to the property, and unfortunately for the owners, it is ruining the calm ambiance of the place. |The owners lack friendliness and communication. They were having the septic tank emptied and failed to mention it. I appreciate this needed to take place, but the process took half a day and smelt terrible. They should have advised guests, and they could have then left the resort and made alternative arrangements.|There is an onsite dog that is lovely (I own a dog) but it can be a tad boisterous, so be aware! He sometimes roams around the resort. |I personally wouldn't feel comfortable walking around the local streets at nighttime as the lead upto the resort is a dirt track road which is quite dark, but everyone is different, we used our car and only walked to the beach during the day.|The accommodation whilst lovely lacks aircon, they only have ceiling fans which just moves the hot around and we felt extremely uncomfortable.|Due to the heat in Costa Rica, you sometimes need to escape to a cooler temperature, and these lodges fail to deliver that. Dona María and don Christian have made such an amazing job at creating "la quebrada" from their hands. The result is a corner of paradise. We tasted a bite of this paradise for 6 nights. The owner tandem is so friendly and have the attention to detail that so many places lack of. You made a piece of heaven by your hardwork..we felt it is your little baby. From the welcoming to the daily talks and the "to do list"around and insider tips. Everything came from the heart. Thank you for this amazing welcome and making us feel like at home.

La quebrada is also a beautiful location and doted of everything you need (air con. Beautiful pool. Great design. Daily cleaning (of the room if wished and of the common areas). Great spot for nature lovers. Animal noise at night. Birds and "visitors" in the morning ...heaven for us.

La quebrada is also a quiet retreat. Very Close to a lot of attractions and local visits. Out first stop before heading to arsenal regiion and then caraibean side of things.

We recommend playa conchal. (Beautiful beach) and tamarindo (ideal for surfing).

Everything is reachable from portrero. Great spots for food and a late night boozy night.

Just had an incredible 5-day experience at this amazing place! La Quebrada Lodge is conveniently situated within a 10-minute walking distance from Playa Penca, which we found to be the most beautiful beach in the area. Several small restaurants and grocery shops, and even an outdoor market for fresh fruits and vegetables are all just a short stroll away. Lots of nice beaches and restaurants can be reached within a 15-20 minute drive. The cabins are newly built and boast an excellent design, equipped with everything you might need. The kitchen is fully stocked for cooking, and a special note of appreciation for the daily coffee refill! The rooms are cleaned daily. The pool is simply stunning and impressively large (30 meters!!). Our 10-year-old couldn't resist jumping in first thing every morning. Carmen and Christian are exceptional hosts! Fluent in English, Spanish, and French, and being on-site, their presence ensures seamless and effortless communication. They were consistently available and offered invaluable recommendations. The trip they helped us arrange to La Leona Waterfall will forever remain one of the highlights of this splendid time in Costa Rica. We LOVED our stay and highly recommend this place, and we're already looking forward...
