We loved the Blue Morpho Lodge! It's a family-run business with motel, restaurant and butterfly garden. The grounds are filled with flowe-lined paths. They have a little covered seating area next to a hummingbird feeding area. In the morning we enjoyed our coffee there. There were so many little hummers! There is also a bird feeder by the restaurant where we saw some cool looking birds. A gazebo sits in a little pond. There is coffee and tea available there for guests. There is a jacuzzi off of the butterfly area. Plantings and water cascading down a rock wall helped create the tropical feel. Our initial plan was to get a place closer to the airport on our last night of vacation. We planned to visit some of the waterfalls in the area. As we checked in, though, we saw the spa listings. The 90" deep massage at the good price of $40 was too good to pass up. As it turns out, we made an excellent choice! José did a wonderful job! He used essential oils, hot volcanic stones and his magic fingers during the 'massaje'. I have never had such a thorough and enjoyable massage! The food at Blue Morpho was good too. There are 4 or 5 options for each meal. Everything was delicious, and José was our massaje man/server! My only regret with Blue Morpho is that we didn't book more time there. I hope to right that wrong...

This place is a hidden gem! I was able to book last minute through facebook since I didn't have roaming on my phone and could not call. They were SUPER accommodating with my last minute booking and getting in past dark. Absolutely no English is spoken by staff but Google translate helped with that (plus I should have brushed up on my Spanish before going to CR!). The little "container cottage" was super clean, comfortable and wifi was fast and reliable. I woke up to tropical birds singing and the jungled forest overlooking my front patio. The grounds are small but beautiful. They have a small dock over a little pond with a wood-burning campfire where you can relax in the evenings with a glass of wine. They do have some beverages for sale but I would say bring your own and they'll provide the glasses. The breakfast was traditional, homemade, and filling. The woman who oversees the place onsite is so nice! I liked that it was away from the bigger towns and places with hotels but close to beautiful waterfalls and parks. I will 100% stay here again when I can get back to...

The heart of family business. When you stay at blue morpho lodge you will be greeted with the best hospitality. Michael went above & beyond to make our stay comfortable! Offering us the jacuzzi, the fireplace and made us fresh pineapple juice! Once we were in our lodge we could see beautiful butterfly’s, birds of exotic sorts and mountainous peeks. We fell asleep to the serenading sounds of rain. The family (mi familia) is the first thing that comes to mind when you enter blue morpho lodge. It’s family run operated and you can certainly feel it, you’re instantly met with warmth as if you walked into your Mother’s home and she did everything for you. We will certainly be back! And if you’re traveling through these parts don’t second guess it, just do!

Noted for owners: Only thing we could appreciate more is better WiFi service/distance as it was a tad difficult to load our flight info, disconnecting often. Even though you don’t come here for that, you come to get away from the noise of cities. All in all it was an experience we wouldn’t have traded...

The place is very good for a calm, peaceful experience. The rooms were amazing. We were expecting something else and got high quality rooms. Love the food, the environment, the location, the attention to many details and the treatment and care from the staff. And talking about the staff, this is the staff many places need. Loving, caring people. Mr Juan and Mrs Susan are great hostesses. The place is huge too. At the beginning you get the impression it's for 2 rooms. Then you would to the main office and notice 4 more small houses. Then the spa area, the jacuzzi and the butterfly spa and yoga type relaxing area (will be in the future). Then things scalate even more when they show you the river tour, the mountain tour. This place is HUGEEE.

Desiring to explore nearby waterfalls, my travel companion and I visited Blue Morpho Lodge, which offers an on-site restaurant with tasty empanadas, a butterfly garden with a jacuzzi, and a gazebo warmed by a fire. With the help of Google Translate, we chit chatted with the very amiable family, who manages the property. They were exceptionally accommodating, providing us with heated water for our thermoses and treating us with genuine care. I intend to stay at Blue Morpho Lodge again when I return to Costa Rica. Pura Vida!

Blue Morpho can be a drive or steep hills to get to. But once you’re there. You’ll never want to leave. They offer onsite camping and 6 bungalows made from shipping contains to sleep in. Gas heated showers with soaps, robes and towel to use their jacuzzi in the green house, and sauna with massage options. The hosts, Jaun and Sausan, are very accommodating and nice. We’ll be coming back with friends!
