We loved the Blue Morpho Lodge! It's a family-run business with motel, restaurant and butterfly garden. The grounds are filled with flowe-lined paths. They have a little covered seating area next to a hummingbird feeding area. In the morning we enjoyed our coffee there. There were so many little hummers! There is also a bird feeder by the restaurant where we saw some cool looking birds. A gazebo sits in a little pond. There is coffee and tea available there for guests. There is a jacuzzi off of the butterfly area. Plantings and water cascading down a rock wall helped create the tropical feel. Our initial plan was to get a place closer to the airport on our last night of vacation. We planned to visit some of the waterfalls in the area. As we checked in, though, we saw the spa listings. The 90" deep massage at the good price of $40 was too good to pass up. As it turns out, we made an excellent choice! José did a wonderful job! He used essential oils, hot volcanic stones and his magic fingers during the 'massaje'. I have never had such a thorough and enjoyable massage! The food at Blue Morpho was good too. There are 4 or 5 options for each meal. Everything was delicious, and José was our massaje man/server! My only regret with Blue Morpho is that we didn't book more time there. I hope to right that wrong...
Read moreThis place is a hidden gem! I was able to book last minute through facebook since I didn't have roaming on my phone and could not call. They were SUPER accommodating with my last minute booking and getting in past dark. Absolutely no English is spoken by staff but Google translate helped with that (plus I should have brushed up on my Spanish before going to CR!). The little "container cottage" was super clean, comfortable and wifi was fast and reliable. I woke up to tropical birds singing and the jungled forest overlooking my front patio. The grounds are small but beautiful. They have a small dock over a little pond with a wood-burning campfire where you can relax in the evenings with a glass of wine. They do have some beverages for sale but I would say bring your own and they'll provide the glasses. The breakfast was traditional, homemade, and filling. The woman who oversees the place onsite is so nice! I liked that it was away from the bigger towns and places with hotels but close to beautiful waterfalls and parks. I will 100% stay here again when I can get back to...
Read moreThe heart of family business. When you stay at blue morpho lodge you will be greeted with the best hospitality. Michael went above & beyond to make our stay comfortable! Offering us the jacuzzi, the fireplace and made us fresh pineapple juice! Once we were in our lodge we could see beautiful butterfly’s, birds of exotic sorts and mountainous peeks. We fell asleep to the serenading sounds of rain. The family (mi familia) is the first thing that comes to mind when you enter blue morpho lodge. It’s family run operated and you can certainly feel it, you’re instantly met with warmth as if you walked into your Mother’s home and she did everything for you. We will certainly be back! And if you’re traveling through these parts don’t second guess it, just do!
Noted for owners: Only thing we could appreciate more is better WiFi service/distance as it was a tad difficult to load our flight info, disconnecting often. Even though you don’t come here for that, you come to get away from the noise of cities. All in all it was an experience we wouldn’t have traded...
