Hotel Fontana — Hotel in Grad Buzet

My stay in this hotel was with an organised walking group. The room was a good size but noisy being sited on a busy road with shops underneath the hotel.The ensuite was a little tired with a damaged toilet seat but the shower was hot and worked very efficiently.||The meals however were poor. At breakfast the cereals were of cheap quality , jugs of fruit squash were served rather than fruit juice and the much of the fresh fruit was not ripe. The evening meals were unappetizing both in appearance and content and not served hot. The vegetables were obviously frozen and were overcooked in fact I ate no more than a couple of mouthfuls of any part of the main course during my weeks stay. On many evenings the potato and vegetables were the same for all 3 choices offered. There was an option to have a starter as a main course but the Spaghetti Bolognaise I ate on my first evening was bland and cool if not cold .||The staff however were usually friendly and helpful and had a good understanding of English. This part of Croatia was beautiful with attractive hill top villages which made travelling and walking in the area...

My room was quite sparse with dusty areas, in particular on the floor under the bed which housed a number of dead stink bugs/shield bugs.||||I was there for one week as part of a HF walking group. The food served to our group was by far the biggest concern. Everything was bland and unimaginatively presented. The vegetables served daily appeared to be either frozen or tinned and were overcooked, stewed and mushy. Meat was massively overcooked, dry and tasteless. Food was usually served at best lukewarm and was barely edible.||||Wine was either red or white with no variety and bottles appeared to be reused as crossed out room numbers regularly appeared on bottles.||||On a more positive note, there was good wifi in the hotel and the Wellness Centre on the 1st floor is well worth a visit and prices there are...

Excellent location just a short walk from the 'pits'. Friendly staff who tolerated our muddy boots and clothing with ease ! Excellent breakfast.. We reserved our accommodation at the Fontana on the day of our arrival due to problems with the hotel we had previously booked. I will always remember this place for their cherry tea ! Sorry to leave and hope we can join you all...
