Hotel Carlstadt — Hotel in Grad Karlovac

Overnight stay during long road trip. We arrived close to midnight and the young man on duty came outside to greet us. He helped with our bags, checked us in quickly, and then went to turn on the lights on the parking garage, where he waited to guide me into a parking place. ||Our room was dated but clean and functional, with a modern bathroom. We slept well and in fact would have been too late for breakfast, had the front desk not taken the trouble to ring our room shortly before the restaurant closed. The restaurant staff showed no irritation when we turned up only moments before the end of breakfast service, and went out of their way to make us welcome. There was still a good selection of food left, and the coffee was fresh. ||There is a seemingly newer hotel located closer to the highway, but it’s twice the price. Have stayed at Carlstadt on 3 occasions now - twice in the same room 4 years apart and once (this visit) in the adjacent room. Considering it is a 3 star hotel you should not expect luxury however the rooms are clean, the beds comfortable and there are facilities like a small TV, an air con and a bar fridge. On this latest visit the fridge was not working and the bathroom sink plug mechanism was missing. It didn't impact our overnight stay but a longer stay would have prompted a swift room change request. The breakfast on offer is basic, but no extra charge and should save you from hunger. The location is great. You are in walking distance of most of what Karlovac has to offer: restaurants, Caffe bars, shops, tourist info centre and transport Staff have always been helpful and friendly with English speakers mostly. Location of the hotel is great, it is in the center of town with access to food market, mall, pubs, pizzeria in a walking distance. The staff is very nice, they greet you well and they helped me book taxis everyday. Only breakfast is included in price, restaurant is not open at other times and there is no room service. I stayed in two rooms, on one side there were some sounds from the washing machines, the room on other side was very quiet and peaceful. When big groups come in to stay, you can expect some noise and wifi levels to go down.||The rooms are nice and clean but are small in area.
