The location is perfect. Elevated above Rabac with a great view from the rooms and the pool area. The place is small, personal, and peaceful.||We had booked 7 nights in a family room. Located on the top floor we had a great view from our huge terrasse, and the room in itself was huge as well. One bedroom and one living room with fold out bed and kitchenette. Hallway and 2 bathrooms (only bathtub in one of them).||Pool is great and a big attraction in this hotel. We had 7 wonderful days, but despite that I can only rate Villa Annette 3 stars (3½ would be the ideal) and that is mainly due to the fact that we payed 285 euros – pr night. When you spend that amount, you start to be a bit more critical. The rooms had some small flaws. Noisy old air condition, it was impossible to shower without wetting the whole floor and the finish in décor maybe a bit to plain (plastic toilet holder in one bathroom, none at all in the other). Wifi was generally slow, but it worked (except for the pool area)||The hotel charges extra for expresso and cappuccino for breakfast. When ordering pasta for lunch and french-fries, the charge extra if you ask for ketchup and parmesan. A small amount, but still! Own towels in the pool area was forbidden, and the hotel had a daily charge for use of their towels. Everybody used their own towels, and no one said anything, but towels to the pool area should anyway be included when you stay in a 4 star hotel. ||The poolbar was only open between 12-18, and lunch was only served between 14-16. Way too late for lunch especially when you are travelling with children. ||Breakfast was very good with many choices and with produce of good quality. ||The staff was mixed (everything except cooking/cleaning was done by 4 people). Some of them very service minded, one of them not so much. Didn’t appear interested in serving guests and didn’t have the skills / trained to do a good job. The very small staff made it sometimes difficult to find them both in the pool area and in the reception. ||We tried the restaurant once, and the food was really really good. Only 2 main dishes, but quality was excellent. The don’t have a winelist, and the wine selection was very poor. Only 5-6 different redwines, and mostly merlot grape. The staff didn’t know anything about wine.||So all in all a really good week in a really good hotel. Don’t be mistaken. This is a great place to stay, and most of the things mentioned in this review can be fixed by the hotel in a very short time. Lets see ||PS: Rabac beach /bar area is surprisingly nice. Despite the many bars and tourist restaurants, it is quite a peaceful place during daytime and the many small beaches/rocks provides excellent swimming opportunities. The clearness of the water...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed one night at Hotel Villa Annette and chose this boutique accommodation as we were seeking a relaxing stay away from the hustle and bustle of crowds.||||The hotel (which has 12 rooms) is located high on the hill in a quiet location and offers lovely views of the Bay of Rabac. Ample free parking is readily available, with the rooms on the higher floors (which are accessible by stairs) having the best views, with rooms on level 3 offering the best outlook.||||Our Suite was extremely spacious, nicely furnished, clean, comfortable, and comprised a bedroom with a king bed and TV, a living room with a sofa which converted into an additional double bed and another TV. There were also two bathrooms (one with a bathtub), whilst the balcony was large and offered a nice view of the bay. The room included two air-conditioners, a mini bar refrigerator stocked with a variety of drinks, as well as tea / coffee making facilities. The free Wi-Fi worked well.||||The swimming pool area was a lovely feature of the complex and besides having pool lounge chair seating (with the option of umbrellas) around the pool, also had an undercover bar / dining area where one could order drinks and also light food such as tapas, schnitzel, chips, sandwiches, and the like for lunch or during the course of the afternoon. The quality of the food was very good.||||The buffet breakfast was excellent with a large variety of food choices available, as well as the option to have eggs cooked to your liking or have breakfast in the nearby outdoor garden if one wished.||||Staff were very efficient, friendly and provided first-class service adding to the quality of our stay.||||It should be noted that the hotel restaurant is not open for evening meals, and you really need to have your own vehicle to be able to access the restaurants in Rabac (5-minute drive), as to walk entails at least a 30-minute walk down and then in excess of 45 minutes to walk back up the very steep hill to the hotel. Staff were very helpful in providing the best parking options in close proximity to the restaurant we had booked.||||In conclusion, we thoroughly enjoyed our very relaxing and peaceful stay at Hotel Villa Annette and would have no hesitation in staying at this location should we...
Read moreEach evening there was no more hot water, just shallow luke warm water wich is not very confortable for a 4 stars establishment. Of course no explanation was given - "I have called some one because it was an error". In fact when the hotel is full, the electric baloon (boiler) for hot water is inssuficient.
Second the internet was extremely bad functioning. On the pool, on the restaurant on the exterior and in thé appartement, there were multiples acces wi fi points that were working very very badly or not at all (perhaps the number of connected devices was to important)
Third for the breakfasts the first 2 days, at 9 o'clock there was nothing left on the plates (breakfast it is served between 7 and 10 o'clock). The explanation was that everyone is coming at the same hour. A positive point is that an effort was made to normalise the situation the next days.
Fourth on the end of the staying we ve had the surprise to be charged for one more person. I must explain that the reservation was made for 5 persont (2 adults and 3 kids of 2, 5 and 8 years old). Booking gave us this appartement . The reception stuff explained that they have an internal policie that charges the fifth person as it is an appartement for 4 persons, but there were no policies written on booking site (all it was written is "the childrens are welcome to stay, there are no place for extra bed or criddels ") and event in the policies that they showed us on the hotel site there is no charges for the under 3 years childs). It s not about the 80 euros extra payed but about the fact that no one informed us on the arrival (that also was written on their policies but not respected) and normally there was no payement for a 2 years old child). This are the eastern scams that are still surviving after the communist era.
Fifth file processing tax (not the tourist tax that was of course charged) for making a passport copies..
I tried to be as factual as possible. And that will resume our unpleasant holiday at...
