A short summery of 1 week spent around the middle of August 2023 at the Zaton holiday resort booked with half board in a Superior Apartment for 4 persons with 1 bedroom: Nice flat with AC, small kitchen fully equipped and with a private outside place but an internet working very sporadically. Even checking the emails was at times impossible... Then comes a very long list of things one should not have to complain about when a 6 days stay was booked for over 3.000EUR in a 4 star complex: The policy of the resort seems to be very close to getting as much money as possible from the guests. One sun chair will cost you 5,5EUR/day and so does a parasol. The water park which the kids looked forward to since they saw pictures of it costs 10EUR for 30 minutes, the train to Nin is 4EUR/person one way. Outside gym is 10EUR/day. Driving cars for children is 5EUR for 5 minutes. Pool party? Yes please! That will be 6EUR per person. And a transfer from and to Split Airport will cost around 400EUR for 4 persons! Oh, and the candies at 33EUR/Kg is simply 3-4 times higher than at home! Of course, none of this is advertised anywhere! The only positive surprise from this point of view is that the drink machine included sodas, beer and wine for free but both the beer and the wine were not of great quality and you would get the same sodas available for breakfast... In other words, no freshly pressed orange juice or anything such, only sodas... As for the smoothies across the different restaurants of the resort, they lacked taste and seemed to have been diluted with water. Regarding the food, it was way below our expectations. The offer was varied but nothing really stood out for its good taste. You would eat to get full and not really because it was specially good. Under the 14 times we were at the buffet restaurant for breakfast and diner, not a single time you felt welcome with a smile. Personal seem to hate their job and would be annoyed or bothered each time I had to point out that the yogurt or one juice was finished (which happened very often). It is possible that you can get better service as a German speaking (probably at least 75% of the guests) and that the English represented a difficulty for the staff. The inside restaurant room had record high noise levels and getting a table outside would sometimes imply having to wait for 15 minutes. Still, all the dishes started to be picked up 10 minutes before cut time. The schedule for the activities was more confusing than informative. We were told to just show up at the archery (one of the rare activities free of charge) but when we did so by 11:00, it appeared that a booking was actually necessary and that we would have to wait for the next day. The train going through the resort passed by us without stopping despite available places on board... The cleaning of the flat was as simple as non-existant. Only the towels were changed at the middle of the stay. The people at the reception were very helpful and our basic requests were executed promptly. The location is of course very beautiful but I suspect that a greedy management has unfortunately lost the right focus and ruined this place! We believe that there should be much better places to stay at in the region and this was so not worth it compared to the other resorts in Greece and Spain we have stayed at and the service level and food quality we have experienced there. We would not even come back for half the price! A shame really but we won´t be...
Read moreAn amazing resort with a lot of activities and veeery child friendly. The rooms were very clean and had air conditioning, the room we stayed in also had a small kitchenette if you wanted to cook your own food.
We got the all inclusive package and the food was amazing and freshly made every day. They had a lot of food options including vegan and vegetarian options.
It's extremely safe there, there is staff that rides around the resort regularly during the night on electric scooters and if you get lost (the location is huge) they're more than happy to assist.
There are also a lot of shops for souvenirs and different beach equipment/accessories that are reasonably priced. There is also a mini market on-site for different needs.
They have a lot of activities for children including joyrides, sandboxes, wall climbing and rope climbing. they also have an outdoor theater for children with regular shows.
The staff was amazing and spoke perfect english. We had an issue with the toilet when we got there, we reported it to the reception staff and within 20 minutes it was fixed. There were only 2 negative aspects I observed during our stay.
The first one was that the rooms (that our family stayed in) didn't have any kind of insect net on the windows, and if we wanted to let in some fresh air, mosquitos and flies would just come in unimpeded.
The 2nd one and I hope management reads this and makes amends is that the wifi/internet network is terrible. The login page doesn't work, the wifi disconnects you after 5 minutes because you are not logged in but you can't login because the login page doesn't work.
Additionally when I did manage to connect to the wifi, I could see every smart TV in the resort because all of them or at least a lot of them were on the same network and I could cast any clips on any of the TVs that were active. This is a serious problem and I hope it gets fixed because basically, anyone with a smartphone can project ANYTHING and I do mean anything they want on unsuspecting families smartTVs.
All in all it was an amazing stay and would definitely go there on...
Read moreI spent 7 nights in this resort in a 3 star apartment with my family ( 4 persons). We paid 1700 euro for 7 nights, just accommodation (no meals).Totally disappointed with the whole experience for various reasons: the apartment was small, probably not renovated since its opening, the windows had wooden frames and no nets, you could hear everything from outside( there was a lot of noise from the insects in the trees) during our stay nobody came to clean the apartment inside our around(like the stairs), we had no change of linen. 3 times somebody came and dropped a few clean towels and took the garbage from the kitchen (not the bathroom) the staff was not at all polite or interested to your well being , always looking bored. We had to carry our luggage to the apartment for a long distance ( we received instructions to look for the helpers in the parking lot but at the checkin we could not find them and at the check out they drove by our apartment and paid no attention when we signaled to them). At the reception the staff was very rude when we expressed our problems , and very reluctant to answer to our questions. the sun-beds we’re not included in the accommodation and you had to pay extra for them at the beach and also at the pool complex. The price for 2 sun beds and one umbrella was 18 euros. we tried the food served in the restaurants around but we preferred to eat outside the resort, because the quality and the price did not seem to make the worth. the activities organized by the animation team around the complex and at the kids club were not engaging and the staff looked bored most of the times. -although the beach is very shallow it has little sand for kids to play and it is surrounded by concrete blocks and not child friendly at all.
Our general impression was that the price we paid reflected in poor service received. For the same amount we received far better service in similar family resorts. Definitely will not recommend...
