Nice enough rooms and good breakfast banana muffins but the price point feels wrong (expensive) given there are no facilities on site - also when we were there there was no WiFi for the first few days.
We rented the whole hotel bar the penthouse for our wedding. The owner was very generous in offering the penthouse (as was too dark in the brides room) for the girls to get ready but later, despite no initial (or any other) mention that she would, tried to charge us for this and for our photographer taking photos in the hotel. The subsequent mention of of the existence of charges and the quantum that the owner wanted was ripe for negotiation but owner refused. And did so multiple times. When we said that she couldn’t subsequently invent charges her character changed in a way that I’ve never seen in an another person and one that can’t be appropriate for someone who runs a people facing business. The owner was also now asking for a €3,000 deposit which had been clearly mentioned when we booked but was not asked for on check in or prior to these additional costs being construed. Given, to me, that it was clear she was only suddenly asking for this to try and extort the unreasonable money she wanted to charge us for photos and getting ready we said that we weren’t willing to make a deposit.
An initially unpleasant sequence of events led to the owner asking us to leave and then when we refused, pointing out that we had paid in full (for the hotel months before) turning up music in the hotel (to maximum) so loud that no one could sleep, calling in a local enforcer (to intimidate us) and then entering (unauthorised) into my room and repeatedly shouting (lots of swear words as well as other random insults such as ‘sociopath’, ‘tiny penis’ etc) at me from less than a centimetre, spitting at me, throwing our things around and then calling the police. The police immediately told her to turn off the music and then after hearing from both sides told her to calm down and to let us go to sleep - there was no suggestion that we should leave. The enforcer then left, respecting the word of the police. Sadly this only strengthened the owners resolve and she took to revving a motorbike outside our room as loud as possible. When this didn’t succeed she started banging pots and pans outside of rooms. This banging went on for hours despite people being ill, pregnant and elderly in the rooms to the extent that everyone left in the middle of the night.
This post could be much longer but there should be sufficient colour here for a prospective visitor. And yes if don’t believe me then we have videos of everything, including the spitting, with timestamps...
