Hotel Scala d'Oro — Hotel in Grad Vodice

Showed up at the hotel at 11pm and we were greeted by a lovely gentleman who assisted us in booking a room. He informed us that we could use the rooftop pool as he had not closed it yet which we were absolutely thrilled about. He gave us a room on the top floor which had a balcony overlooking the water.

The pool was beautiful and romantic. It was later at night, a bit cold but the pool was substantial in size so you could easily get a few lengths in to warm up. They had a shower outside to clean off and provided towels.

The room was very spacious. The bathroom which is always a make or break for me was excellent. Spacious, clean, and amazing water pressure. The room consisted of two single beds pushed together which did not affect our sleep at all. The pillows were good and the air conditioning was great. They had a mini fridge in the room fully stocked as well.

The location was good, more of a pit stop for us at the end of the night.

The breakfast was included in the stay and was delicious. Soft toast with over easy eggs open faced, seasoned very well with a baby tomato on top. The croissant with chocolate chips was so flaky and warm mmm. There was a very good red pepper spread available as well which appeared to be made in house. A good selection of meats which seems to be a staple in cuisine here.

We had to make a reservation very last minute. When we arrived, we were heartily welcome. Check in was very fast.

The room was spacious, clean and so was the modern and rather large bathroom. The hotel is throughout well air conditioned. Everybody working there is lovely and helpful.

But the Gem is the pool at the roof. Kind of infinity-style if gives you a perfect view over Vodice. There is also a small bar with drinks and coffee.

The breakfast ist pretty good for Croatia, where breakfast ist always the weak point. But there is one thing I would really like the hotel to change: the „coffeemaker“ at the breakfast bar is a disappointment in every way. It is one of these machines working with Pulver instead of real milk and the coffee has nothing but the color in Common with real coffee. So I was quiet happy when the machine broke down and we got coffee from the real machine at the reception:)

But well. If the coffee is the only thing you can complain about, it must be a rather good place, I guess.

So 5 Stars it is. Thank you to the team for having us and fulfilling our wishes, the few we had.

The management ruined an otherwise wonderful week spent in Croatia/Bosnia. We were city hopping, sleeping one night in each town. We booked a night at Scala D'Oro, a few hours before arriving, for one night. When we entered our room, we realised the a/c was not working - in fact it was blowing on 28.4 Celsius, the TV was not even plugged and there were tangled wires coming out from behind it, mosquitos, and crawling insects on the bed and the carpet, and the liquid soap dispenser over the wash hand basin was empty. Reported all this to the receptionist who tried to calm us down by saying they have an 'engineer' coming next morning to see to the a/c - we were only there for the night and I can never justify their having accepted the booking if they were facing this problem. But apart from the a/c which seemed to be beyond their immediate control, they made no attempt to rectify any of the other...
