Hotel staff was nice, but my overall rating dropped a lot after disappointing dinner we had in hotel restaurant. We were tired and really hungry, had a look through menu and both decided that burger was the safest option as it is hard to mess up simple burger.
When burger came it had really weird smell, patty looked light and when I tasted it I realised it was pork as it was unlike anything I ever tasted before, sour and really weird. I don’t understand how so called hotel with 4 stars can make burger with mix of beef and pork and not mention that in menu??? We didn’t ask prior to order because regular burger is always 100% minced beef and if there is bacon as part of burger it is always mentioned in menu!
I ate burgers in many different countries and never had burger patty that is not 100% beef??? I think it is shocking from 4 star establishment to not write in menu that burger is mixture of beef and pork as so many people don’t eat pork for dietary, religious or just health reasons.
We ended up eating only fries and paying (17€x2) for a food we sent back. How can you even justify charging 17€ for burger that is mainly pork???? Absolutely ridiculous!!!
I was really mad and would never stay in this hotel for that reason alone, even though we liked our room and spa part of hotel, even though hotel pool was not cleanest and stairs in pool are wobbly and not safe.
Breakfast was fine and it had many options, even though I noticed that even there they didn’t write what kind of meat sausages were or salami, which makes it seem like they don’t care about guests dietary needs.
Overall really disappointing stay as hotel is pricey, especially food in restaurant, 17€ for burger made of pork is ridiculous! If we didn’t have such a disappointing and expensive ‘dinner’ we would stay at this hotel again , but after this definitely...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed 2 nights, arriving by rental car at 2PM. Check in was quick, submit our passports, then receive the room card and information on our “Vacation Senior Castle View” superior room which included breakfast, daily picnic baskets and use of the indoor spa.||A single elevator accessed the 2nd floor, then a long corridor walk to #239. Plush robes were on the 2 comfortable twins(placed together) across a long desk/drawer unit with a modem router (super room WIFI), hot pot, cold mini bar, then large closet and fully outfitted bathroom with instant hot water and strong exhaust. ||The spacious room had a wall TV with Bloomberg/CGTN in English and central heat/air with wall control. ||The window wall opened to a balcony with table and chairs and a direct view of the perched castle which was brightly lit at nightfall.||The 7 AM breakfast buffet was delicious, fresh and extensive, and included excellent service from wait staff to clean up. ||During the cool morning, we took the self-guided tour of the castle and walked the 5 km lake promenade. After a hot picnic lunch (4 different menu choices) on our balcony which was shaded until 3 PM, we reserved the clean 29 degree C (84 F) indoor pool (14 m x 5 m x 1.25 m deep) for laps.||This popular 80 room rural hotel has been an excellent choice for exercise and relaxation costing $178...
Read moreWe came here with 2 kids (1 is still a baby) and with a dog. Superb room with the view at the castle is on the south-west side. Very warm in the afternoon. Just above the restaurant terrace. Surrounding is so nicely decorated, horticulturaly is great organised. Inside there are visible traces of usage on the floor but it is very clean and it all smells nice. Swimmingpool is clean and 1,25m deep. They have both saunas, also 1 sauna has glass window with the view on the castle. That was an amazing experience. Restaurant offers great food even for vegetarians. Vegan options! Everybody are polite and very professional. Superb room is very spacious (aprox.40m2). Big balcony. Sofa bed that folds. Great for 4 people. They gave us baby crib/bed. Other room on the north side is smaller (maybe 20m2) but it is great for 2 people and has nice bathroom with bath tub. It is near border with Slovenia (5km to Macelj) so you can go there for a lunch. Varazdin is very close also. Krapina museum is also close and very interesting for...
