VILLA KRISTINA — Hotel in Općina Medulin

There are a number of alternative apartments a stones throw from the beach in the lovely area of Pjescana Uvala offering services and facilities you would expect as standard when paying over 100 Euro per night. (shutters, air-conditioning, working shower, proper entrance). ||||Please note my comments are only for the one bedroom apartment for three people as I think the others are better equipped and I hate being negative but on this occasion feel that that there is no other option.||||This apartment is substandard for the following reasons:||||• No shutter, blind or blackout curtain – just a voile/net curtain.||This resulted in not being able to sleep as the street light and outside balcony light from the apartment above shone directly into the apartment. As there are no bedside light, if the overhead (& only light) in the bedroom is on there is no privacy at all meaning that you have to get undressed in the kitchen. We spend two hours in Pula looking for eye masks in an attempt to block out the light and get some sleep.||||• Access to the Apartment||For some strange reason, although there the main door is in the hall, the only key for access you are given is for the bedroom door, which is fine unless it’s raining. If so then you have to remove your shoes outside in the rain and then slip and slide your way into the apartment’s bedroom leaving a trail of soggy footprints behind you.||||• Shower||The bathroom is big, too big really, take care when going down the steps as once wet they are very slippy and we had two falls on them. As the wall attachment for the shower is broken and has been for sometime, you have to follow the water flow around the shower unless you hold it in your hand. No towels provided.||||• Kitchen||The dishwasher does not work which is not a major issue but as the sink is in the corner you have to lean over the cupboards to wash up. (Wouldn’t even mention it if I had been able to sleep or shower easily!)||||• Staff||Although there are live in staff on the premises, they are not very friendly or helpful and give the impression that guests being there is an inconvenience for them, although we did mange to obtain two beach towels seven days into our trip.||||• No Air-Conditioning||Just wanted to highlight that this particular apartment does not have air conditioning, we missed this...

I stayed at this apartment with my family for 3 nights. I should say it is a fabulous place and the host Susan is so so so kind and helpful. Its is just 15 min away from the city centre by bus and the No 28 A,B or C and from the airport i should say take the shuttle bus which cost €4 to city centre.
