Regret to say the review is very mixed but only good in a few points. This is an old complex that has not really moved on from the old communistic times. Its maintainance is behind the requirements to a great degree leaving the hotel looking decidededly uncared for outside. The furnishings are in need of replacement in most areas that we saw - the main block and the hotel block - we did not have time during the week we were there to try any facilities. The room was spacious with a balcony ( only one chair ), and a view onto the green area in front of the hotel. The beds my wife and I would rate as near the end of their useful life. Little storage space. The television was fixed at head height on a corner you had to go round resulting in more than one collision. The bathroom appeared adequate with the shower providing a quite acceptable shower - the drawback here was that it did not drain quickly enough so the water built up in the shower basin ----. The toilet on more than one occasion continued to flush and needed some engineering knowhow to get it to stop. The ventilation in the room was good via the balcony door - though that did concern us to start with as part of the opening process involved pulling the top of this large glass panel out towards you while the bottom stayed connected - as you can imagine just a bit disconcerting.||Breakfasts required you to place your voucher on the table for inspection. The food was adequate only and totally unimaginitive, the coffee was the worst I have tasted, and to get even a drinkable cup was forced to put two espresso into a cup, add some hot water and fresh milk from the...

Read moreOur stay at Istarske toplice's "Hotel" Mirna was truly a one-of-a-kind experience.
Their website gives the overall impression of a charming little hotel with modest but decent and comfortable rooms for a fair price. I'm sad to say their "lavish" website expose is hardly based in reality. We were given a tiny and clammy room equipped with a bed that made so much noise you couldn't help but wake up when turning in your sleep. The walls were so thin we heard our neighbours using their bathroom. As we're on the subject: our own rusty little bathroom couldn't be closed as the door jammed. On the plus side: the food was edible. Yes, edible. The menu is similar to that of an elementary school cafeteria (although I must admit: eating there got my stomach yearning for the good ol' days).
All in all we had a great time at Istarske toplice but it was definitely not due to the quality of the "hotel". We really didn't expect a lot but after paying for the room we couldn't help but feel ripped off.
I truly feel sorry for the staff. I really felt like they were trying hard to stay positive and smile in the face of adveristy. I don't know where the management is investing the income but I am sure it isn't "Hotel" Mirna. The surrounding area is stunning and the Wellness facilities are decent, though, so I would advise you to just spend an afternoon in the sauna and see the cliffs.
HINT: If you are the adventurous and adrenaline type be sure to check out the hotel pool with natural thermal water. And watch your step in order not to get caught up in a hairy...
