Our room at the Plitvice Palace was lovely - overlooking the pool and with comfy beds and aircon. However, we were disappointed with several aspects of our stay: Firstly, the restaurant was packed - not their fault as there are few restaurants in this area and thousands of tourists. However, when we asked for a table, on two consecutive nights, the manager just grumpily shrugged his shoulders, didn't offer to put us at a table to wait, we weren't offered a drink and just felt as it we were an annoyance. This was not how we expected to be treated by staff at the restaurant at the hotel we were staying at. Our disappointment was exacerbated by the fact that the card machine at the hotel wasn't working so were told that we had to pay for our room in cash - even though there was a perfectly adequate machine at the restaurant. I did feel sorry for the member of staff in charge of checking in guests who was clearly rushed off her feet and fairly junior. However, the customer service, at a more senior level, was not up to scratch. It was a shame as the level of accommodation is good overall - but really let down by these two aspects, particularly the restaurant and its grumpy staff. It was our first experience of Croatia and wasn't a good one. Luckily, our experience of the country improved after that. Much friendlier and customer-focused staff next door at the...
Read moreWe booked two rooms for one week.||||Positive:||The hotel was very clean: cleaning ladies are working all day long, also swimming pool was cleaned every day.||Playing pool and table tennis for free.||Jumbo Pizza in the resto was excellent.||||Negative:||I was very upset about the price:||during reservation on booking.com, it was described payment should be done in local currency and in cash. Price during reservation on booking.com was only mentioned in EUR.||At the hotel we had to pay in cash, in local currency (Kuna) or EUR. However the price in Kuna was higher than the price in EUR, because hotel applied some transfer costs on the exchange rate which were 6x higher than in a bank. As all our cash EUR was already spent, we had to first withdraw Kuna and than to transfer it to EUR at a bank. So we had to pay costs on the exchange rate several times.||So if you consider to come to this hotel, make sure to bring enough cash in EUR.||||Wifi was unstable: some days it did not work; sometimes it did work on one device, but not on another.||||Water of swimming pool should have been heated, but it was quite cold so I wonder if it was heated.||||Location of resto in on main road which make you don't have a nice view.||||Cigarette smoke entering the room through the window.||||If you look for a hotel in this region, I recommend 16lakes hotel, which is not on the main road, and has a very...
Read moreWe stayed here for one night as we were visiting the Plitvice Lakes National Park early the following morning. The hotel is conveniently located a short 10 minute drive from Entrance 1. Checkout doesn't start until 7am however they were happy for us to pay the night before and leave our key as we left at around 6:45am. The card machine was broken while we were there and we had to pay in cash. The hotel itself had clearly just been renovated and we were very happy with our room. We stayed in the comfort double room and the room was very spacious and even had a large sized fridge which was appreciated greatly. The shower had a great pressure. There was a pool area outside however there wasn't enough deck chairs for everyone. There was lots of bugs around the pool so make sure and remember to pack your insect repellant. Only issue was the hotel was not sound proof at all and you can hear everything from the rooms around you and people walking about the corridors. The aircon was also extremely noisy so had to turn it off to be able to get to sleep. Overall a good stay and would recommend if looking for somewhere to stay...
