As someone who knows this area of Cyprus very well and stay in some of Limassol’s top 5* hotels each year, we were delighted to stumble across Meleni Cottages, a real gem of a place only minutes from Limassol’s luxury Amathusa area. ||||As we had ourselves and 5 grown up children with partners, it was not the year for staying the Four Seasons! So we searched the area and as we know Pareklissia village well (Melis is the best taverna on the island), we took a chance and booked a few rooms at Meleni Cottages. We were met by Eleni and Petrou the owners, who we saw working hard every day to prepare the rooms for new guests and cleaning the grounds and the pool. ||||During our stay, which went without a problem, we were given warm, freshly made cakes and fresh fruit from the owners. The aircon, shower, beds, etc all work well and the traditional look was so nice. Our grown up family enjoyed the pool everyday and relaxing in the sunbeds and seating area. ||||If you are looking for good value and close to all that Limassol has to offer, why not do what we did and risk something a little different. The price saving is worth the 10 minute drive and you might be smitten with it as we are. ||||Sad to leave, but we will be back in...
Read moreThe list is long, pool area, missing cover in the pool leavinga hole 150cm deep which could cause a nasty injury. When spoke to the owner his reply was " the matters in hand" he should have warned me.Unable to use the poolside umbrella, there was no pin to keep the umbrella up. The dwelling, mismatch bedside tables, sheets that did not fit a very wobbly bedpost. The bathroom, a metal monstrosity underneath the sink which left little room to use the toilet. The kitchen, not enough pans for cooking, cupboards were very smelly of must and old stain marks, old moldy cornflakes in the bin and what every kitchen should have a microwave(didn't)have one. When I approached the owners they were not open to suggestions and a bit curt. Finally, first impressions are important on arrival the garden needs some (tlc).Would I stay there again,NO, I was given an upgrade to the (presidential suite) it did not have that great feel factor and certainly not worth the money.VERY disappointed.Have stayed in similar locations which have been far superior and...
Read moreWould strongly recommend that anybody booking the cottages check the cancellation policy. We paid a thousand Euros deposit but had to cancel due illness. We were told that there is no refund policy but we could rebook alternative dates. However when we went to rebook we were told it had to be winter dates only! When I requested why this was I was given some cock and bull story that our room was available for us but we didn’t turn up despite an email being sent advising the cancellation. After threatening legal action I was then advised we could rebook in the Summer months for 50% of the market price using our deposit as part payment. Have since taken further advice on this and was told Meleni should have provided a written cancellation policy which I requested but was ignored. Real pity as we love supporting local businesses and experiencing local culture but feel really let down by Meleni Cottages and would suggest anyone booking should obtain their cancellation...
