Beautiful place. My husband and I (he is an American, Indian born, national, I am born Czech but have lived most of my life abroad) have really enjoyed our stay in such authentically and delightfully renovated cottage house. If you look for an exciting night life and an environment full of spark, glitter and trendy fashionista's, this is not a place for you. If you, however, wish to distress, enjoy the beauty of nature around and calm down, the tranquility and beauty of this place , the visiting deers and hears around will do wonders for your health and spirits. The place is clean, meticulously maintained with an eye for the perseverance of the Czech folklore and architectural heritage, the staff and the owner, who is around keeping an eye on the place most of the time, are pleasant, patient , flexible and involved, making its most demanding guest welcome and happy. The wine bar/lounge offers good choices of affordable and delicious wines and provides for a nice closing to your day, often in the joyful company of the property's owner himself. The spa is clean and offers great relaxation. Unless you are determined to be served caviar and Bollinger Champagne at your breakfast, the treats offered here will satisfy the breakfast fantasies of most of us, including the (sparkling) wine and wodka worshippers. The kitchenettes in the room are well equipped for fixing snacks & drinks and even a small meals.
Ideally, although this place is pretty much perfect, I would appreciate having a locker, iron and bathrobes (given the lovely spa) available in the room, and perhaps some parasols in the garden.

Read moreWe have visited hotel Modry Jelen in August. We were two couples with 2 small kids. Hotel is nice and tastefully decorated but the owner is a tyran and makes the whole place a really uncomfortable experience. It is not possible to sit in the space of the hotel past 23:00, owner told us we should go to our rooms! When we told him we have kids sleeping there, so we cannot, he told us there is nothing he can do about it. So we had to sit outside, the weather was cold and we met there other guests of the hotel who were in the same situation like us - wanted to enjoy time with friends and not to go to bed at 23:00! In the morning our kids were playing with toys that were in small basket, we cleaned them after breakfast, but next morning we were told there is no basket, that some guest probably took it to their room. There were no other guests with small kids in that time! I do understand that some accommodations dont want kids in their hotel/pension, but then you should openly state so and not lie about ridicilous things like this. Owner does not even say hello to certain guests in the morning, ufff, really pitty, as the place is nice, but the owner and his wife are not made to do...
Read moreVery nice hotel at perfect place, out of the chaos of Lipno. It is very cozy and nicely decorated place which fully fits with Sumava mountain. Everything is very clean, spacious dining room, very nice wellness, rooms are very comfortable and large enough. No noise around hotel as it is located close to the forest. Parking is next to the hotel. Very nice atmospehere, in the main dining room plays very nice chill out or bossanova music. Breakfast are probably the best i have seen in last years. They consist of only good quality stuff (most of it from Austria). Things as 5 sorts of juices, homemade lemonades, Prosecco, variety of hams and cheeses, fresh fruit, freshly made pastries, sausages, antipasti and great coffee are included - I didn’t have to each whole day :). The owner was professional, all staff we met were smiling and very polite. I can totally recommend and I am looking forward my next stay. Probably the only hotel in Lipno on professional level where you get what you pay, rest of the places around the lake are mostly robbers...
