This is an outstanding place, and I'm not saying that easily. Located in a tiny village that you wouldn't stop in if you didn't have to, this is a culinary gem.||surprisingly, this isn't just a hotel, it's a stud with 45 horses that has a riding school for kids plus a kitchen that offers nothing short of fine dining.||The very competent and well-trained waiter/receptionist was happy to tell me about the colourful history of the place and even borrowed me a book about it.||Location: Pretty much in the middle of nowhere, but you're only ten minutes away from the airport and about 25 km from Prague city center. There's no infrastructure in the village, so don't expect a supermarket or even a shop. However, you'll want to eat at the hotel anyway once you tasted it.||Rooms: I had a room right above the horses' stables that was brand new and fully equipped including international TV, excellent beds and a very nice bathroom. Apparently, there are other rooms with a different style and more space for couples and families. The room leads out to a gallery that also serves as a shared balcony.||Staff: As mentioned above, staff are really nice. This is a place the employees actually like to work in. That doesn't go without saying.||Food: My favourite subject. I was expecting simple Bohemian cuisine but was highly surprised with what I got. You'll be enjoying a dinner form a chef who cooked for the Queen of England, and I'm pretty sure the only reason she doesn't come back is because she can't pronounce any of the dishes. I had mushroom soup for a starter that was elevated by truffle foam and dried mushroom to a completely new level. Deer gulash and delicious pancakes with fruit completed an amazing dinner. Prices are higher than average but on a Czech level, which means that the value for money is extraordinary.||Overall, I strongly recommend this place (unless you have a daughter, because she will never let you leave again. 45 horses is all I'm saying.) I hope I haven't just raised the prices of Dvur...
Read moreI just loved everything about our stay at Dvur Hoffmeister. This was the back end of our trip and we had already stayed in Old Town Prague and we were looking for a place with easy access to the airport. I actually would choose to stay here again next time I visit Prague. It is so peaceful, gorgeous locale, great service: absolutely wonderful and such a contrast to Prague which although beautiful is crazy busy in the summer and overrun with tourists. We stayed in room 6, above the stables: a great place to hear and watch the swifts swooping and truly unwind. It was great to be on a working farm and see the horses as well as deer and ducks just minutes away. The room was very comfortable, the bathroom large and well appointed. Dinnner on site was not cheap but gourmet quality. Highly recommended!!! Food and service was top notch quality. Breakfast was very good with great omelettes (eggs cooked to order) plus breads, fruit, yoghurt etc. The art work at Dvor, most (all?) of which is done by Mr Hoffmeister is fabulous too. As are the hand painted dinner plates! A great stay and a highlight of our trip to the...
Read moreUnfortunately I can't give more stars. We visited (5 of us) for dinner with my family and end up eating not together. Service was excellent when we started, lovely ambience too. My dad's duck was very tough, almost impossible to cut. He mentioned it to the staff and they offered to make a new dish. He waited as we were eating our meal. He ended eating alone. Duck was a bit better but definitely still not great. They didn't even asked him how was it. Very disappointed with their luck of interest. We ended up paying about 4.000 KC anc we had no starters and no deserts. For that kind of price I would expect much better service. I understand mistakes happen but the way we deal with them is important. I am not going to come back, unfortunately I would not recommend this place either. Simply little gesture offering free drinks or let us not to pay for the duck would be absolutely lovely gesture. Unfortunately staff needs still training how to deal with problems. We didn't make a fuss as we didn't want our evening...
