Hotel Horal — Hotel in okres Vsetín

My best friend decided to get married in the Czech Republic and booked the Hotel Horal for his wedding ceremony and breakfast. I arrived a week before the wedding to give him a hand preparing everything. The hotel itself has good amenities (tennis courts, swimming pool and spa etc..) however the service is absolutely shocking. I work in the hospitality industry and can understand levels of customer service but this hotel has literary none! When you arrive you have to wait at least 10 minutes to get your key to your room. There is simply no one on reception or when there is, the receptionist doesn't care or doesn't want to help the slightest. The wedding celebration went well but the staff on the night lost the wedding cake!! When his wife confronted the hotel manager about this she simple shrugged this off and basically said, these things happen, what do you expect me to do about it now! Shocking I know! She did give some compensation (£15.00 off their bill) which was nothing really. Hotel Horal pleasantly surprised us. Firstly, the service here is at an amazing level. I don't know what they've done here, but the staff is incredibly friendly, helpful, and will spend an extra minute or two of their time explaining everything to you and answering your questions, even engaging in a brief conversation with you. This applies to everyone across the hotel (reception, wellness, restaurant). It's a pity that this isn't the standard across the whole Czech Republic, at least in 4-star hotels. Furthermore, the food here is great; we had burgers, both fish dishes, soup, and everything was excellent. The rooms are not completely modern, but nicely clean and well-maintained, plus spacious, which I really appreciate! The same goes for the bathroom. We have booked this hotel by a mistake, as about 12 km far from its place there is a very beautiful hotel of the same name HORAL, which we know well. This hotel how ever is located in very bad place between main road, gas station and parking places from 3 sides, while the fourth side view is to a private camping place which is very noisy and you can not open the windows due to smoke from many open fireplaces and grills. Poor aircondition, very smelly pool, terrible staff, only positive point is the good kitchen in the restaurant and the professional head waiter. Hotel overcharges all, entrance to spa is even extra paid, no lifts in the hotel, very poor hotel room equipment which remembers late 90s.|We hope to forget this bad experience soon and of course we never return...
