The hotel is a really nice spot but the service is unorganized and the rooms are basic. We booked a large room with Terrasse - all of them are directly attached to the parking slot. The rooms are basic, no air conditioning, no safe, TV only danish. The service is weird, you need to book a slot for breakfast in a small boutique hotel, no buffet, three choices to be made the day before to be placed in the Wintergarten, where the table are so small that they don‘t fit the food. They ask you to put your breakfast on the chairs. At the end the window cleaner is cleaning the Wintergarten during breakfast and the gardener is burying grass right outside. On the question if this is appropriate, the answer is ‚that is the way we do it here‘. Same at dinner, on a seafood restaurant there seefood was out but they offered the left overs. That is the way they do it. Your choice - for this experience it is highly overpriced as the hotel is placed at the Main Street to the Harbour not at the nice side...
Read moreFanø krogaard, has recently been renovated and come under new ownership. It really shows on the interior design, ambiance and most importantly food and service. The setting is spectacular and cozy with more living room style sections to dine in, many with sea view. This place can match the other 1 tier restaurants on the island; Kehler’s and sønderho kro. The menu is build around a simple yet elegant selection of classical dishes with a twist; local and international. We chose the 6 course meal with wine menu; very fresh food taking advantage of local produce. The wine pairing was good, but did not quite match the the quality of the menu, hence the four stars. Off course subject to personal preference, but it did not work as well with some of the six courses being served in pairs and an unusual pairing of a red with light fish. All in all a very worthwhile place to go, we will come again and next time chose 2 starters for Sharing and a main with our own...
Read moreKind service but a complete rip off. Prices are WAY to high. The price compared to the quality and the amount you get, is just unbelievable and not in comparison to anything. We left 1800 kr. And we where still hungry when we left. If you buy peel yourself shrimps or tartare you don't even get bread beside, and if you ask for any they will complain about having to come with more, even though they charge you 30 kr for 3 slices baguette, without telling you. We were still baffled over this tourist trap several days later. We are two families who come from the biggest and second biggest fishing cities in Denmark (Skagen & Hirtshals). And the only way we could explain there strategy, was to have guests coming once, get scammed and never come again. We know fish can be sold in better quality, with more food...
