We celebrated my parents anniversary at Hjorths. The starter we originally ordered was unavailable but Chef Peter apologised and offered us a lobster starter instead. What followed was one of the best dishes I ever had. The combination of ingredients as well as the different textures and plating was truly star like and something every gourmet temple in the world would be seriously proud of. Never was I happier that a dish I ordered was not available! We returned another two times during our stay in Denmark and each time the menu was excellent but especially the starters and the sauces were absolutely marvelous!! Chef Peter not only matched our expectations but raised the bar to a whole other level. His personal touch and explanations of the dishes table side in English were also extremely appreciated.
Our diners were even more elevated by the superb waiting staff. Especially Morten in the dining room made our experience at Hjorths not only fun and thoroughly enjoyable but something to remember. At our first dinner the bottle we wanted to order was out of stock but Hjorths wine list had plenty of good alternatives. At our second dinner at Hjorths Morten managed to secure a bottle of the wine we originally ordered and had it waiting for us. All of his recommendations were absolutely spot on and elevated the entire menu.
We would like to thank Morten and Chef Peter for three truly amazing dinners and evenings at Hjorths and really hope to see them again at our next trip to...
Read moreThe hotel rests 400 m from the sea, behind the dunes and has a beautiful view over a dune/ beach like landscape. To get to the beach, however, you need to walk a long a road from the hotel. The hotel also provides a "morning dip" bus service:)||||It is essential to be aware, when booking at this hotel, that it actually consists of two separate buildings. The second building used to be a hotel in its own right but has been incoroporated. This is important because the restaurant, garden, reception etc are all located in the main building - ~100m away.||||The rooms in the secondary building, that we were allocated, were ok but not too clean. We found spiderwebs with spiders in two corners of our room. The bathrooms had several cracks. The view from our room was, however, very nice and had a door leading to an area with deck chairs.||||Since we travelled with small children we could not eat in the restaurant in the main building. Instead the hotel arranged to serve us in a cozy dining room in our building and the waiters did so by golf carts(!). Nicely done and food was very, very nice. They did, however, charge extra for this service. We felt this extra charge was unnecessary.||||Breakfast was home made and...
Read moreWe recently stayed for 2 nights at this lovely quaint hotel. If you are looking for all the mod cons you may be disappointed - No TV, Wi-Fi or kettle in your room! However I found it to be a wonderful change it was very relaxing and so nice just to sit and relax. Our room was clean, bed comfortable it was certainly adequate and with our little outdoor paved area with table and chairs it was great to sit outdoors. As we were travelling by train and didn't have a car the hotel is a little out of the way but the hotel bus gladly picked us up from Hulsig train station which was wonderful of them. It is very close to the beach we walked there a couple of times which was great. We dined in the restaurant both nights and made the mistake of not booking the 2nd night and nearly had to get takeaway and eat in our room but luckily they squeezed us in. We couldn't fault our dinners they were superb. Breakfast was good plenty of choices the only negative thing I have to say is there was a lot of flies around the hot food, hams, cheeses etc. It really was not pleasant to see. Maybe some covers over the food might help this problem. We had a great couple of nights and would definitely recommend staying...
