The food is the most real, well made and just perfect there can be. They bake the bread, make the jams, cook the ham, do everything from scratch in the oldschool way. The dinner dishes was sublime. Breaded and panfried Plaice is served all over Skagen, but the one we had here was next level, there is probably not a better to be had in Denmark! The owner is a rare case of a Chef with a knowlage spanning decades and refuses to compromise on anything from breakfast to dinner, a rare gem of a Chef and a class woman. Everything we ate here was as good as oldschool, authentic homemade cooking can be. All the produce they use is of the highest quality. As a Chef myself, this is one of the Realest experiances i have ever had and a was honored to be alowed into the retro kitchen for a look. This is a family hotel, run by mother and daughter who do everything; reception, restaurant, cooking, etc, etc. Guests that are used to the bigger and more business like hotels might not feel at home. But we did, indeed. Rooms are small and somehow old fashioned but clean and comfortable. Breakfast is rather basic but a very good experience. Home cooking - that Danes really know how to do. Wifi was fine but no TV in the room (not missed by us)||Negative, perhaps, is the location which is some KM from Skagen centre. The rooms were a lot better than on the pictures from the website! They have this 70s aesthetic, but are not old in cleaning, care and utility. The shower was great, the bed super comfortable, and the room plenty ventilated and nice. The ceilings were low though! And so we had a few headbanging incidents (not the concert kinds).
The breakfast was SO wonderful. The mood and service just fantastic, they even played hits from the 70s. So cute. It proper feels like a throw back in time, but in all the best ways.
