So the hotel looks very nice from the outside. It has decent amount of parking and a nice airy reception area. To the front is a large outdoor veranda/patio with lots of chairs and tables overlooking the lake which is gorgeous. There is a restaurant and a bar left of the reception and most likely meeting rooms to the right. After three o'clock you can get free coffee and cake and they do sell some sweets and fizzy drinks. So far so good. The room overlooked a small lawn and the back of some other houses, nothing exciting. The room was a good size with a double bed, desk, desk chair and a more comfy chair. Also a TV and two smaller wardrobes and area to put suitcase. This is very good. Bathroom was relatively large with a very basic shower with curtains and a nice sink and toilet. Hairdryer on the wall. Soap and shower gel was in refillable "tubes" also attached to the wall. This is environmentally friendly which is great, but soap was only filled to one third of the tube and very hard to get anything out of.. Hard for an adult, even more so for a child. There was a disturbing ring of black "something" around the the top of the toilet making me seriously question the cleaning of the bathroom. Similarly the amount of cobweb and small spiders in the window was not pleasant and slightly worrying. Our room had curtains, the room next door did not... Why? The TV had setting issues and kept asking for country and language. Decent amount of channels once you got past that though. We went to the restaurant the first night just to be told only one menu was served where there was ONE starter, ONE main meal and ONE pudding. No choices and no children's menu. (But kind chef managed to sort food for child anyway) Long wine list. Food was ok, there was nothing wrong with it but there was not enough and it was by no means exciting. Even after the pudding, a few of us were still a bit hungry. Not acceptable after paying quite a bit of money. Waitress was very nice and positive. Breakfast the next morning was slightly chaotic. Something about the Coffee machine needed refilling, bread box empty and no one could find any milk. There was no name tags on anything and a drink dispenser seemed to malfunction. No one was clearing the tables resulting in lack of tables for new guests. Luckily more staff seemed to show up a little later and eventually things cleared. The breakfast selection was fine, not massive but suitable. The second evening we chose to go to the hotel across the street instead and had a lovely dinner with loads of proper Danish food. For less money. This is of course a personal choice and not a reflection on the hotel. Nonetheless it will be good for future guests to know there are choices. Also worth mentioning is that the second morning, there was different breakfast staff and things were running much more smoothly. I would not call this hotel very child friendly. By no means was it the opposite either. It just seemed aimed at an older crowd. I find that curious as one of the main attractions in the area is Knuthenborg so I would assume a lot of families would want to stay here. I gave it 3 stars because apart from cleaning, food and a few technical issues, it is a nice place and a lot of the staff were very friendly and the size of the rooms...
Read moreStayed at this hotel twice now and overall its a good hotel it's in a prime location on Lolland with a lot of local places to see and visit and go for dinner.
It appears the hotel is used by a lot of businesses for staff accommodation, I stayed both times for bussines purposes.
The staff at the reception is friendly, helpful and great at resolving issues.
Although some of the decor in the rooms are slightly outdated and could do with an update the rooms does exactly what they need to do such as provide a comfortable place to rest. There is a TV in the room unfortunatly there is not much choice on the TV i think it is about 13 channels where about 6 of them are Danish, the rest is in German, Norwegian and Swedish.
Breakfast is served starting at 6:30am every morning, the breakfast is great. They offer a choice of rundstykker and other breads to eat with various cold meats and cheese and jams. Available is also Danish breakfast sausages, bacon, scrambled egg, Frikadeller and pancakes. Several different cereals are available. Orange and Apple juice as well as a tea and coffee machine is available.
Dinner is also available however I did not have dinner at the hotel so I can't comment, but it's great that it is an option as it may be more convenient for some.
Also available at the hotel is mini golf, sauna which can be put on by request for use there is also a small bar for drinks.
Parking in front of the hotel is free and have no restrictions on for...
Read moreIt wasn’t the best stay. We paid £408 for 3 nights and the rooms are extremely outdated. Our room was an ‘executive club’ room and I guess the size of the room and the view of the lake was about the only thing different to much cheaper rooms (If they had any of those). Honestly the view and balcony were the only good things about this hotel, if we didn’t have that, it would have been even more unenjoyable. The rooms got ridiculously hot and of course, they had no air con. There was literally only two plug sockets in the whole room and they were no way near the bed which was pretty inconvenient. You couldn’t change the language on the TV and during the night, there was a ridiculously bright blue light coming from the TV which we had to cover in the end! When checking in, it wasn’t the warmest of welcomes. I think the lady at reception spoke a handful of words to me. I even tried to make conversation about the amazing view and I got nothing. When I checked out it was a simple, ok thank you. No ‘how was your stay? Thank you for staying with us’. Staff could use a bit more training in customer service or maybe just a smile would do?! Overall, I would not stay here again. I think you could find a lot nicer places close by or even in the next town over...
