A quite historical village inn which does what it says on the tin, if possible I would give this hotel 3.5 stars. Review based on a one night stay in May (background of spending 80+ nights per year in different hotels around the globe). ||||Location:||It’s located in the middle of countryside in a small village. Gas station with a small supermarket located almost across the street, apart from that it looks like there’s nothing much going on in the immediate neighborhood. ||||Quite easy & fast access to Legoland / Billund, roughly 20km away. ||||Room:||We had a room at the ground floor, the room was not the biggest I’ve seen in any way but certainly enough for two people. It had its own small patio with direct access to a large garden & playing area for kids. ||||The room was quite basic, for example A/C was missing. The room was clean with no stains or signs of usage.||||Quiet with little noise from the other rooms, nothing from outside ||||Etc: ||Breakfast was rather simple but still enough to get the day started. Have to mention a small specific detail about orange juice though: very, very industrial taste unfortunately. But I guess that’s balanced by offering Gammel Dansk (bitter liquor) here… ||||The reception was already closed when we arrived (closes at 19:00?) which caused a bit of problem for us, nothing major though. ||||The hotel building (or rather a set of buildings) was quite interesting with its own historical character. ||||Would I return there?||Yes why not, a place with its own unique feel and quite convenient for Legoland. So despite giving it “only” three stars it’s certainly not a bad...
Read moreThe hotel part of the inn is quite sparse in conveniences, and offers a pretty bland conference center experience.||Whilst the room was impeccably clean; there was no tea/coffee making facilities and the “Duble bed” was two singles pushed together. ||Furthermore the breakfast choice was very limited, with the most meager interpretation of continental breakfast - And all Industrially made, with no homemade options, despite the inn having a very nice kitchen.||Everybody I interacted with was incredibly nice and personable, which can be a breath of fresh air as appose to the the polished professionalism you finde in a lot of places.||The place has a lot of potentiale to be great spot, the buildings are a nice combination of the old inn and the newer hotel interlaced with the gardens and courtyards. But the hotel/ conference center set-up has a bit of a “holiday center the year 2000” feel to it; with none of the conveniences or identifying touches that have become commonplace over the last...
Read moreDon't expect too much, I see that several has done that after reading revues in here about Hovborg Kro.||It's a typical danish kro, with marvelous owners, good and hard workers and a bit more than you should expect from both food and service.|I and my family (kids 4,5 and 1,5 years old) loved it here, and the drive was not too far to Legoland.|But best of all, it was the cheapest alternative when we looked into it and was planing our vacation.||I recommend it, but I guess I don't have as high standard as some of the other reviewers in TripAdvisor!||I'll definitely be staying here if I'm ever going back to this or...
