On 2/19/24 Someone responded to my review below which I appreciate. However despite what he/she said doesn't change the facts that this hotel located in the hood and the staffs are unprofessional especially when they were on their phone watching video laughing and speaking with one another while they left me standing waiting for them which was done intentionally. Despite the language barrier which isn't the main issues, the problem for me is their conduct. They should be more like geneisy. She is kind and sincere.

If you want real truth here we go, because I have no reason to give false review however I have learn some can give 4 to 5 stars for whatever reason regardless and I am Gere to say that is not the case. The rooms are clean but there are no windows , the issues are with the staff and the location which I consider dangerous.

Where do I start? The first day there, a friend drove with me and said she would not go there with me anymore because of the location [ hood]. first, the location is the worst I have seen. The traffics from motorcycles to cars driving on wrong side of the road , taking one way street as a two way, the road are so tight its impossible to not damage your rental which you will need to get around. Worst of all the staff are rude and do not speak English, they get upset with me because they don't speak English. I got to the area however since the road that Google map try having me take was closed for construction, I kept on asking people in the area if they know where the stupid hotel is no one seem to know and being a female that they clearly can tell is from another country can make one a target. The scary thing for me I was driving in circle for one hour looking for the place ,I called the hotel since they can't understand they would just hang up the phone , I beg one of them telling them it's 530pm that it's getting later and I don't want to be out here in the dark still looking for the hotel . No help. Finally, when I made it after I paid someone to have me follow them there who actually knew this hotel , I walked in no one asked who I was or if I am staying there. After I gathered my thoughts on the situation, I went to the front desk to talk with one of the two women there. Guess what, while talking to one, she said one moment, and while I am waiting, her and her coworker looking at a video , laughing, I couldn't believe the unprofessional, nonchalant behavior of these people. I can't see the locals paying to stay there, meaning foreigners like myself are the one that paying their salary to have such nasty behavior toward me because I don't speak Spanish. Nasty nasty. I promise you all it's not worth it and they don't tell you the full story of the location. It's in the hood point blank in the hood. Stay away and run fast. Lastly, the hallways are so narrow and only one way in and out. In the USA, that will be considered a violation per the fire code.

The nicest person there is Geneisy, she made things better because she is always willing to help with a smile, unfortunately she cannot be there 24/7 . She is the biggest asset this hotel have by far.

Please...

As the CEO of Jminyetty Group in Santo Domingo, I recently visited Higüey in La Altagracia province for an urgent business trip. During my stay at the Melina Hotel, I was impressed by the kind and attentive staff. The service provided was optimal and I thoroughly enjoyed the traditional Dominican breakfast with a touch of continental flavors. The freshly cooked meals were a delight.

The room I stayed in was well-suited for the purpose of my trip, and I appreciated the presence of security both outside and in the parking lot. However, I believe there is room for improvement in terms of noise levels. Personally, I would prefer if the music and overall noise were kept to a minimum by 10 or 10:30 PM. While Dominican regulations state 11:00 PM as the cutoff time, considering the comfort and rest of families and international travelers would definitely enhance the level of service provided.

In my professional opinion, the Melina Hotel exceeded my expectations in terms of cost, services, and comfort. I give it a well-deserved...

I booked this hotel for my pregnant best friend who was going to the clinic across the street in the morning. I paid in advance because I knew I would be busy working in the hospital all day. I got the receipt and confirmation and numbers and sent it to them. When she got to the hotel at check in time they said they had her name down but she had to pay more than I even paid for the room. She showed the receipt and they said even though I booked it for two and she was one person. She had to pay to stay there and that they hadn’t received the money. So between patients I call the bank and yes they did. So she went back. They still wouldn’t let her stay and wanted to charge her even more. I have never once had this happen and book in advance all the time. Now I have to deal with my credit card company cause they stole the money. Then claimed she was a no show despite pictures of her there the lobby and the woman saying no. Do NOT trust this hotel or reviews. Also someone in the lobby said there...

My stay at the Melina Hotel in downtown Higuey was truly fantastic! The location is ideal—just a 40-minute drive from Punta Cana and perfect for exploring the area. The hotel staff is friendly and attentive, and I felt well taken care of from the moment I arrived. Breakfast is served in the state-of-the-art Kaleus Restaurant on the third floor, where a buffet spread offers a delicious start to the day, and the à la carte menu for lunch and dinner is equally impressive. The brand-new rooms are modern, comfortable, and spotless, providing an excellent place to unwind. The hotel’s pricing offers exceptional value, and the added security—with guards watching over two parking lots and the hotel grounds—brings extra peace of mind. I highly recommend the Melina Hotel; it’s a wonderful choice for anyone visiting the area!

We stayed for one night but it was impossible to sleep with the bad strong smell in the bedroom without any window to be able to change air. When we informed the reception about the issue the receptionist was first very rude saying that no other bedroom was available without willing to help! Very bad service and experience as on top of that the hotel is still in renovation with fresh painting smell all around the floor. The price for one night was excessive for the quality of the room. Paid 3,750 for one bedroom without any window and bad smell. Got impression to have been crooked. Definitely not to recommend.

Un hotel de ciudad con una arquitectura y decoración moderna, en contraste al sector donde está ubicado, pero me sentí bastante seguro y tranquilo. Los ambientes y las habitaciones tienen una exquisita decoración con un estilo internacional. No tienen desayuno incluido, solo ofrecen café. Tampoco tiene área de comida. Para los alérgicos como yo, deben mejorar el olor a humedad. Tienen parqueo cerrado y con vigilancia.
