A Huge Disappointment. Let me start with the positives: the hotel’s location, its layout, the surrounding area and flora are beautiful. The standout highlight is the beach – with palm trees providing plenty of natural shade and the stunning turquoise sea. Unfortunately, that’s where it ends. Hygiene is seriously lacking everywhere, and the staff is mostly unfriendly (with a few exceptions) or completely disinterested. The rooms (we had a superior one) were partially renovated at best, but still clearly very old and long overdue for a full refurbishment. Room cleaning was superficial, and the cleaning of shared hotel areas was even worse. The biggest and most critical issue, however, is the food – which is catastrophic. Always the same, tasteless, poor quality, and hygienically questionable. In most restaurants, the food sits out all day in the heat, covered with flies and other insects, and by the time it arrives from the kitchen, it’s already cold and clearly just reheated (e.g. a full tray of lasagna that was supposedly freshly baked but definitely wasn’t). Some items run out and are never restocked (in the first few days, there were oats and Nutella for breakfast, but not after that), and the remaining selection is small and always the same. There are numerous widely known cases of food poisoning at this hotel, and it’s not hard to see why. It’s also quite surprising that even the pizza is terrible, especially considering the hotel has an Italian owner. Late check-out is charged at 50 USD, and we were denied it even though the hotel was far from fully booked. Despite the hotel’s beautiful location in the Caribbean – a true tropical paradise – this doesn’t come close to making up for the other aspects of the holiday experience, and the stay is absolutely not worth the price.

More like a 4.5 -- we had kids and adults and visited for one day. The pools were great and plentiful. Even though it was busy, there was plenty of space on the beach and even more so if you walk a little farther. We felt safe enough to leave stuff on our chairs all day and had no issues. We were not told right at the beginning about certain amenities/hours and availability for catamaran, trapeze, etc. But the food was typical buffet style at a resort. A quick fast snack bar that opened around 11 until 6 with good quick options (pizza, fries, hot dogs, nachos). Lots of drink stands and huts everywhere with smoothies, juices, clean water. Lots of non stinging bees drawn to the sweet drinks that was more of a visual annoyance than anything else. The restaurant was is more buffet style and good variety. Some restaurants you need shoes and shirts to get into. Water bottle stations around. The staff will attempt to upsell early on with excursion packages, but you can opt out and do your own thing. There were staff going around to different parts doing music and games throughout the day. The beach itself is beautiful and great for snorkeling. Lots of seaweed in parts but nothing you can't swim over. The sand was perfect for sand castle building. Very clear water. Not a lot of waves. No dangerous tide. A spot where you can jump off 8 feet into deeper water and snorkel around. It wasn't rainy while we were there, but here it mostly comes and goes throughout the day. If you're walking the beach, it's probably closer to a half mile. Fairly accessible. Evening entertainment was not clearly communicated and start times were more of a suggestion than anything concrete. Overall a good experience.

Bungalows that are not on the first beach row are dated, especially the bathrooms. Hot water needs forever to come. Terrace is nice and comfy though and the greenery around the bungalows is nicely arranged. Entertainment staff is superb, engaging and hard working. Loved the mixed ethnicity; European and Dominican animators. Food is great, great variety and of great taste. Chef is doing one heck of a job there. Oh, I love they serve coffee from the machine all day long and it is part of the all inclusive system. Waiters are the best; most of them smiling, joking, dancing, having fun. The beach is great, caribbean clean azur waters as expected. Down part are guest relation people that don't really know the meaning of their job - I only asked to get the daily activity information and in 3 days they were not able to provide it. I eventually gave up. Another thing that disturbed me, was, when I addressed them with an unpleasant issue they suddenly didn't speak english anymore. People working in such resort as guest relation, should at least speak english (beside their native spanish)

Beautiful and very clean hotel. It’s very vast, so for some it may be an advantage or disadvantage. Very cool and attractive shows every night, you can be sure, that you’ll be satisfied. Many activities available, staff is always smiling and they’re very helpful. Beautiful beach, phenomenal restaurants, that are available for you after making a reservation. That is all in a nutshell from advantages. From disadvantages - when I was there climbing wall was closed. Nothing wa written to explain the situation, you just couldn’t use it, because no one was there, besides the fact, that daily program was saying that you should try it. Staff in this hotel is great, that is mostly the fact. But staff at the beach is not so great though. Every time I was returning the beach towel, they were just taking out big jar with a label „tips” on it, begging for tip. Tip for bringing back the towel and placing it on the table. It was very difficult for us at first days to find daily activities, there was no info nearly nowhere and no-one told us where to look for it. For the future guests - just wait for it to pop up on the screens near the lobby. We were given a robes at fourth day of our stay. Along with them we’ve got small facial towels (before we had one big and one small towel). So it was something positive for us. But unfortunately after two days additional towels were not delivered again. At this magic fourth day we’ve also got something to the fridge, before fridge was empty. Along with the towels and fridge also coffee machine appeared. Another cool thing. But it appeared without any mugs, also there was no free power socket left, so to use the coffee machine it was necessary to unplug the fridge. Another big disadvantage is, that in the bathroom there was no clothes hanger, so you need to put your clothes in the room, before going to the shower. In the room a big tv is present, which is very comfortable. But unfortunately most of the channels were having big problems, to run smoothly. During our stay we had problems with water in the bathroom several times. In fact there was no water at all for a few hours. You could start to wash yourself and end up being whole covered with shower gel and no way to wash it down. Language. If you’re speaking in Spanish, Italian or French it will be ok for you. If not, even English will not help you. Most of the staff present there can’t speak English in more fluent way than few single words. This fact is even more visible in the evening shows - most of the time speakers speak in Italian. One of the shows was entirely in Italian, if you can’t understand it, your loss. At the time when we arrived in our building the elevator was not functioning. We had to carry all of our bags 3 floors up. After a few days elevator started working, but not to the most upper level. Close to two weeks after elevator was working mostly every time. Another things which are constantly not working are cards - during our stay at first few days second card was not working, only one of them was usable. After these few days I’ve got this card replaced, the new one was also not working. Next day I’ve removed the new one and you guessed it, third one was also not working. After that I’ve gave up on this. Fridge sometimes was filled with some beverages - but not always, so if you drank something you might be left with nothing in the fridge for few days. One thing about guest service - worker didn’t know English nearly at all! We had a problem once, and I needed to clarify one thing. It was impossible… The worker didn’t know a word „available”, so after about half an hour, I gave up clarifying and went away. It’s horrible that a person who should be able to help you don’t know how to even talk to you. Last thing is a lock on the door - it was nearly completely broken. It was barely hanging on a few nails - that room was not supposed to be given to a guests, period. So overall the hotel is quite good but with many problems, that the owners and future guests should take into...

Bear in mind that this is an all inclusive resort, or so it is advertised. Even before we arrived, I had emailed the hotel with questions about the facilities and booking tables in the restaurants, I never received answers to these. On arrival there is no greeting which is standard in most other resorts What we could hear though was very loud music (3pm local time) As we made our way to the room we had been allocated, we passed a foam party taking place in the kids pool, the music was ridiculously load but we dismissed it as a daytime activity that we could either participate in or not. The music never let up, the sound desk felt like it had been put together by a 12yr old, it was so base heavy and loud, with a DJ who constantly shouted over the music, it was relentless, every day, every night until 12.30. We moved rooms twice to get away from it. There is a strange system for using the restaurants on site, if you are in the 'Beach' you get to use 4 non contribution places to eat but only if there is availability which appears to be limited, even though the restaurants are never visibly full If you want to book into one of the 'Palace' restaurants, you pay $12.5 per person and strangely there is always availability. If you choose to eat in the buffet restaurant then avoid peak times, the staff do their best to keep it clean but they struggle to cater for the sheer number of people who use it. You can book up to four restaurants per week using an app, if you cancel one the system does not update your allowance so you have to go to guest services and wait patiently to be seen. The overall quality of the food is ok, in the restaurants it is not commercial quality that you would expect eating out but there are some dishes that are very good. Availability of food and drink seems to be an issue, restaurants running out of certain dishes (happened to us three out of seven times), bars running out of certain drinks (felt like every day) There are not enough staff to serve the amount of people in a timely manner so be prepared to queue for drinks. The drinks menu is extensive but the bar staff ability to make the exact drink is met with poetic licence and differs for each time. It says on the website that the resort has international brands as well as local, which is a stretch of the truth. There is a cash bar, with branded drinks where you can purchase a whisky, brandy, tequila or gin, if you want decent beer its limited options. In the main bars, the spirits are local, not branded. Mixer drinks such as vermouth, martini, aperol are known brands. As previously mentioned, the music played during the day and night at the main bar is ridiculously loud, there is simply no need for it and it certainly isn't advertised as such a resort. There are other pools, but with daytime entertainment there is always an interruption of the peace and tranquility of the resort by a overly eager entertainment person with seemingly no concern for eardrum damage for anyone sitting within 30m if the speakers. Overall this is a poor resort, it's looking tired, poorly managed. Fire escape doors padlocked, running out of food and drink, facilities not able to cope with the number of guests, poor entertainment offering, with poor, bordering on misleading advertising as to what you will experience. For all the above issues, we gave the resort the opportunity to deal with them before writing the review. The resort front of house staff seem to be well aware of the issues over noise, people are seemingly always changing rooms, it obviously means newcomers are given the noisy rooms first and if they don't complain then they stay The front of house restaurants staff just apologise for running out of whatever it is, bar staff just shrug and say we don't have it. The beach is lovely. The sunbed areas away from the water front are a mix of sand and pumice making it a little uncomfortable are footed, there is a beach volleyball court that is unfortunately littered with sizeable...

We’re a family of three from Manchester, UK, and travelled with TUI. This was our first stay at this particular hotel (we stayed on the Palace side but had access to the Beach side), although it was our sixth trip to the Dominican Republic over the past decade. Previously, we’d only stayed at resorts in Punta Cana, so this was our first time exploring this part of the island.

Arrival: After a long flight and an hour-long coach transfer, check-in was fairly smooth. We completed some paperwork and declined the $30 safe rental. We were offered a refreshing smoothie on arrival, and our luggage was delivered to our room.

Room: We booked a Superior Double Room with a Limited Sea View and Balcony or Terrace. The best part was the view—it turned out to be a full sea view, which was lovely (room 5851, top floor). The room also included an iron, ironing board, and hairdryer. However, the rest was disappointing. The decor was outdated, storage was limited for a family of three, and there were only two sockets, which aren’t travel-plug friendly (a small extension lead is recommended). No English channels were available on the TV, the shower pressure was poor, and the pillows offered no support, causing neck pain. The mosquito screen was ripped, allowing bugs in, and there were no "do not disturb" signs. Wi-Fi in the room was practically nonexistent. Weddings held on-site caused loud music near our room until 11:30 PM. Bedding was supposed to be changed every three days, but it wasn't done until we requested it after a week. The floor was mopped only once during our entire two-week stay.

Pools: We expected the Palace side to be quieter, but our first day at the La Papaya pool was anything but—blaring music started at 10 AM and continued for hours. The reps frequently adjusted the volume, making it anything but relaxing. The Trago pool, located between both hotels, was a much better option: peaceful, quiet, and never busy. The infinity pool on the Beach side was filthy, with visible green algae and murky water—clearly not maintained.

Cleanliness: Cleanliness was a major concern. Apart from a staff member sweeping sand occasionally, there seemed to be no regular cleaning around the resort. The beach, pool areas, stairs, and corridors were consistently dirty, with sand, debris, dead insects, and food remnants. Water refill stations were unclean, and cockroaches were spotted near the pool, buffet, and snack bar. The buffet restaurant lacked basic hygiene—tables and placemats weren’t cleaned properly between uses. Staff often carried spray and paper towels but didn’t actually clean. The only consistently hardworking staff we saw were the gardeners.

Beach: The beach itself offers beautiful views, and the sea is warm and usually calm—great for snorkeling. However, it's poorly maintained. Staff don’t tidy up the loungers or clear rubbish at the end of the day. Loungers closer to the water have no shade, and the hotel provides no umbrellas.

Food & Drink: Food quality, selection, and hygiene were the worst we’ve encountered at any hotel. We became ill two days in, and after observing how the food was handled, it wasn’t surprising. Cold items like salads and cheese were left warm and wilted; hot food was barely lukewarm. Cross-contamination between meat and fish was common, and there were long queues due to understaffing at food stations. The Beach side snack bar was filthy, with cockroaches and poor food hygiene. The creperie was a disappointment—staff didn’t know how to make crepes, and what we eventually received was dry and inedible. The coffee shop rarely had juice, despite advertising it. The pizzeria was decent only when the pizza was fresh; cold food was again left to go warm. The drinks were subpar, with cheap substitutes for standard spirits and lukewarm fizzy drinks from malfunctioning dispensers. After three days, we decided to eat all our meals off-site to avoid further illness. TUI UK acknowledged the food and hygiene issues and offered...
