Arrived in Pedernales October 28. Wanted to stay close by Jaragua National Park, Bahia de Las Aquilas and beaches. Only planned on staying a few days. Now 11 days later we've got to leave for our flight. |What a wonderful place. 1st floor, 2 beds, private bathroom. Opens on a cobblestone courtyard just filled with native trees, vines, large palm. Feels like an oasis. Resturant is closed due to Covid, but I can always rustle up some coffee in the morning. Can't even hear the ubiquitous roosters in the morning with the door closed. |Parking is open and easy. Guard at night friendly and watchful.|The hostess Katia couldn't be more gracious. Not alot of tourists right now but family , longtime friends old and younger, grandchildren running around. We feel like guests at a family function. |I had a hankering for goat and Katia sent for and prepared some beautiful creole stew, rice, aguacati for everyone. Then out came the music, dancing, alaround merriment. |This part of DR isn't for everybody. But the parks, beaches, cows and goats wandering about, to me it's paradise. Even found some Scuba , Gorgeous pristine coral.|Thanks Katia, hope to...

They had no hot water also. They explained to me that the heating was solar powered and it was already night.||||The breakfast was very good and very well presented and the staff was very polite...
Read moreWhile on a bird watching trip in the western Dominican Republic we spent one night in this hotel. There is not much in Pedernales so this was probably one of the better hotels, and therefore gets 4 stars. My room was not the greatest but was ok, and the same is true regarding the meals; that being said this place had a great interior area and even though English was not spoken we managed well as our guide was a great interpreter. Most likely the only show in town and they try hard so the 4 stars...
