This used to be a logging community that didn't know what an amazing location they had until they were provided funding for skills training that allowed them to pursue a community tourism project. When the first foreigners came and couldn't stop taking pictures of the views of primary forests, local birds and wildlife, and volcanos along the Andes mountains, they knew they had something special. Very nice place to be. The 2 campgrounds are on top of the mountain with a nice view. There is water, energy, a little shop with food, everything for a campfire and you will miss nothing. Two hiking routes start directly there. The restaurant is open on weekends, and the people there will help you with everything. Hiking routes, transport to other hiking places.. just go there and ask in the small village for your needs. They save the rainforest and need support to do that.
