As many do, we had an overrnight layover (10 p.m. to 8 a.m.) in the Quito airport before flying out to Cuenca. I am a nervous traveler and made the reservation well in advance. We paid 45.00 extra to have a minivan pick the 6 of us and our luggage up at the airport and return us the next morning. I had some trepidation about whether the van would be there since emails back and forth were in english from me, and spanish from them. However, the staff totally came through and a driver with our name on a little sign waited for us and promptly got us the next morning at 7. ||||Staff were lovely, hauled our bags, smiled a lot. Only the manager speaks English and when we arrived they rang him up on the hotel cell phone. They offered us either "quiet" or "noisier" rooms. SInce the quiet ones did not have little side tables for our cpap machines, and it was late, and seemed quiet, we chose the "noisy" rooms. DON'T DO IT. It is comically noisy. all night long it goes from utter silence to loud trucks blowing their air horns, traffic etc. OUr teenagers slept through it, but it was challenging.||||The rooms were very clean. We had hot water and showered. they have shampoo and soap. BUT in the morning for some reason the toilet was not working, I think the cold water tank was empty?? Not a huge deal, but....I would use these folks again for honesty and reliability as an airport...
Read moreQuite a nice and clean place, but thin walls and traffic noise ruin the experience. If you go to the information desk at the Quito airport and inquire about nearby lodging, you may be directed to this hotel. "It's only 15 minutes from the airport." But with the heavy traffic and slow trucks, it is more like 30 minutes away. The hotel is clean and elegantly decorated in the common areas. The rooms are quite plain and some of the beds are very comfortable. Breakfast was included in the price only during my first night's stay. The front door is always locked, so the security is great. They provide free transportation from and to the airport. But the hotel is right on a very busy highway, and since the wall are very thin, you can hear each and every car and truck go by as if you had a room overlooking the highway. You can hear all activity in the hotel, even the floors above and below you. When someone's cell phone rings in the hotel, you can hear it, and of course you get to listen to their entire conversation, too. I could even hear the guy in the next room punching the keys on his cell phone. If you live in a noisy apartment in New York City, maybe you won't mind the noise, but I couldn't sleep. If you are looking for a quite place to stay, do not stay here. If it were not for the noise problem, I would...
Read moreWe arrived at the airport Friday afternoon for an early Saturday flight and were informed the VIP lounge was not available to us until 3:00 AM. So, we asked at the information desk for a short-term hotel. The girl called Marshyl and said they had a room for $70 dollars including transportation to and from the airport. Upon arriving at Marshyl, the management informed us that the $70 fee would only be applied to the six hours before midnight on Friday and there would be an additional charge of $70 for the three hours on Saturday for a total of $140 for 9 hours stay. Their rational was that they rent from midnight to midnight and we would be occupying the room for two days! No amount of negotiation could lower this price. Marshyl probably pulls this kind of bait and switch tactic on weary travelers all the time. We walked out, but most probably just pay the double price. We went to Tababela's El Parque...
