My friends and I, a group of 5, travelled from Mompiche to Playas in one day on the bus. It was a very long day and we were exhausted, when we arrived at our place (not this place) it was horrible, dirty and cockroach infested, we had to stay one night but we left first thing in the am. ||We found Promenade Hostel on booking.com and took a taxi there. As soon as we were let in the front door we felt safe and welcome. A mother owns the hostel and runs it with her son whose English is superb! They were the source of so much information for us and he even helped us book our tickets on the phone to the Galapagos so we could get a better price. He drove us to the airport in Guayaquil for $50 (taxi would have been $45 and we would have needed 2). Thank you so much for all your help, you were both amazing and friendly and welcoming!||The Hostel is very clean and only a few years old. There are double or single rooms, every room has a tv (it's mostly in Spanish) but no worries, we didn't even use ours. We paid $20 per person per night, two couples and one single. Our single friend still got her own room. This was the only thing we didn't like, the couples who had a room to share paid $40 for a room and the single got the exact same room for $20. This doesn't really make sense as breakfast wasn't included, seems to be the way it is in Ecuador. |Rooms were very clean, beds were decent, amazing shower pressure and very hot water (just let it run for quite a while... it will get HOT)!|Overall we were so happy to have a clean safe haven for a couple nights. Lots of great food in the area and beach is 1 block away, you can see it from the front door. ||Thank you again for all...
Read moreI read about this hostal on Facebook and decided to give it a try. When I arrived, I realized that I had walked by it many times in the past and had eaten dinner right next door to it. But because of the layout and the lack of a sign other than a name painted on the wall, I didn't realize there was a hostal there. And certainly not one as nice and affordable as this.||||The room was nice sized with plenty of room to move around. More than ample storage space. The shower was very nice and did have have water (though it takes about 5 minutes to arrive in the room...) :-) The only minor complaint about an otherwise very nice and roomy shower was the lack of any soap holder. I had to put my soap and small bottle of shampoo on the edge wall of the shower. There was no shampoo provided by the hostal, but I have learned to bring my own, so no problem.||||There was a nice-sized Sony LCD TV in the room, but I never used it. The air conditioner was an in-wall unit (not separate) and made quite a bit of noise. There was no caulking around the a/c so it probably ran more than necessary because of the constant inflow of hot air from outside.||||Wi-fi was free, trouble-free and excellent coverage (the router was right outside my door.) ||||The personnel were all very polite, helpful and nice. The room rate was $20. I've stayed in 4 or 5 different hotels in Playas and I think this is easily the best value. Not the fanciest, but it has a convenient location to food, bus and beach. I will stay here in...
Read moreA very nice Hostal. The rooms are nice, super, super clean. If you can, stay in the room above the office, which has a small balcony. Perfect for sipping on wine in the evenings and watching the people go by. The air conditioner in this room is a little noisy, but is perfect for drowning out the street noise. The hot water is good. The woman who owns this, is extremely likable, helpful and speaks good English, Spanish, German and understand Swiss. Also if you are coming to Playas to buy property, you should know her son is a real estate agent through Remax and his English is good. The rooms all have good Wi-fi and the staff is very friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay here again and again. It is only about a 2 minute walk to the beach, and the restaurants are plentiful around here. As well as little stores, pharmacies and a mall which is probably about a 10...
