This place was incredible. At first I was skeptical, as there were no reviews on Google Maps, but we took a chance and were rewarded with an absolute hidden gem that had just opened. This collection of geodesic domes down a small dirt road offers one of the most unique lodging accommodations I have ever experienced. The rooms are sleek, modern, clean and boast an incredible view of the jungle. The owner, Giovanny, was the most accommodating host we had in our visit to Mindo. He provided an incredibly welcoming environment and even a few lifts to and from the domes. The environment here is absolutely nuts. We visited in early august and went for a walk at 7:00pm sharp at Giovanny’s suggestion and we’re rewarded with a light show of fireflies along the river that runs through jungle just beyond the domes. If you are looking for a unique experience in close proximity to Mindo that provides both a price and experience you can’t get at any other hotel, I cannot recommend...
Read moreIncredible place for a stay! You really feel like you're sleeping in the rainforest. They even have bird feeders so you can watch the birds in bed! Room is spacious, and even comes with a little kitchen if you want to cook your own food. The room is a bit damp, but you're in the rainforest so that can't be helped. Wifi worked great! Bathroom is basic but functional.
Getting in and out is tricky as the road to/from town is steep. Giovanny picked us up from town and got us a cheap ride out the next day.
Since the place is remote, there's no restaurant nearby, but there are places you can order from that Giovanny can facilitate deliveries. One of the "huts" is on a hill only accessible by a pretty steep climb that's often wet, so it's not quite accessible if you have mobility issues, or if you have very large luggages.
We would love to come back and stay...
Read moreIncredible way to spend some nights. We even prolonged our stay for an additional day. The host was very nice and helpful, even before we arrived and he speaks some bits of english. He organized a pickup of our stuff and later of us when we arrived at the bus station in mindo in the morning. He gave us a lot of wonderful advices on what to do in the area. To walk to the city it took us a good half hour. In the end he even organized our transportation to the airport in Quito. I could not recommend this place more. One of the most plesant experiences...
