Gran Hotel de Lago - Lago Agrio — Hotel in Nueva Loja

Something happened to this hotel. Pictures are nice and you'd think with price you'd get some value: wrong. This place is very worn out. The pool was under construction so we really couldn't use it. (We came 2 days prior booking the hotek specifically to adk about pool and hit water and none of this information was gifen in advance).

The gym equipment are un maintained so basically you could use only the hand weights. Hot water runs only from 4 am to 9 am and later on the day if its sunny (?) We didn't get warm water on day one even as it was sunny day. The breakfast is a very minimal and basic.

We asked that onone to enter our room while we are gone, (they dont have these signs "please dont disturb" and someone had gone to clean while we were gone for 30 min.

The staff also tried to enter our room while we were in the room. There was a Short knock and someone opened the door and tried to enter the room apparently to clean (?) Strange as the room had been cleaned 2h before.

Something very strange in this place. 🤔 Last morning they started some compression tool usage at 5.30 am just...

My wife and I stayed here one night in late January, 2014. Then about a week later after returning from the jungle we stayed another night. So we got to stay in two rooms. Both were excellent.||Rooms were large, very clean and the showers were huge with plenty of hot water.||Door locks were a very sophisticated design I have not seen anywhere else.||AC worked very well (important here)||The property is very nice, with a gym and sauna. And a huge swimming pool||Like the rooms, all was immaculate.||Both times we were there the hotel seemed very quiet. Seemed like we had the place to ourselves.||A very nice breakfast is included. They also serve other meals in the restaurant (which are a bit pricey). Staff is great, but their knowledge of English is limited.||Although the room's window drapes are adequate for privacy, they do let a lot of light in.||Don't figure on sleeping...

After check-in I was assigned to a room that was dirty (they didnt clean after last guest checked out) and had the A/C completely dead. So I complained and got another room. In this second room, the A/C didnt function either. So I got a third room. This was finally an ordinary funtioning clean room but still very basic. 3 Room changes. Terrible experience.

This morning I had the buffette and the coffee machine was under maintainance so there was no coffee available. Food is OK but completely overpriced and service is very bad. If you get rooms in the farthest building then you will have to walk A LOT just to get from the parking lot to the room. Gym is very poor, the only thing that really works is the treadmill. The place is fine but for the price you pay service...
