We stayed one night there before the climb in Ilinizas NP. The hostel offers a perfect location for climbing. We went for a package sleep + dinner + breakfast for 50 $ (2 pax). As it was low season we were the only guests in the hostel. We got a room in the main building with a private bathroom as agreed before. It was very small and dark but looked ok - all wooden. The bathroom - in fact it is a part of the room separated by glass doors which is almost impossible to close because the wooden frame got wet and are are impossible to move. There was also no hot water in the shower. When we asked for hot water we found out that in the whole building all the rooms have cold water only and there is only one room with hot shower. The owner allowed us to go to that room to take a quick shower as there was nobody inside. In our room there was no toilet paper, soap or hot water so when choosing that place u need to take it under account. We had a dinner in the hostel. It was potato soup which was nice a main course chicken nuggets with French fries tomato and avocado. It was good. The family who owes this place is very friendly and gives useful information when needed. Next day we woke up in the morning. We agreed with the owner to have breakfast at 7.30 because we had arranged pick up for climbing at 8.00. Just before 8.00 there was still no breakfast and our guide arrived. Then we got bread rolls , a bit of jam and margarine with coffee and Tea. When our guide saw that he was a bit surprised and went to the owner to argue for cheese or eggs. That was how we got eggs. We were already late. The owners also agreed to keep our luggage in the luggage room for the moment we were climbing (for free). Generally we feel that this place has a huge potential. It has nice design, looks amazing and has plenty of rooms. However, we are sure we would never come back there and never recommend it. We paid $ 50 for one night , for such price we had very Nice hotels (not hostels) in the centre of Riobamba, Quito , Guayaquil with hot showers , towels , Nic breakfast, toilet papers, soap etc. And I you are looking for sth so basic without anything you can just take a place in refugee for $15 inside the national park not outside. We just had an impression that the owners wanted...

The place has a potential and I can imagine it used to be nice tourist lodge but nowadays the owner (Mr. Bladimir) do not care at all, he is only charging an inadequate money but the service is zero.
Room seems to be relativelly OK at first moment but you can feel a little humid smell, bathroom do not have a sink, hot water is not working (you need to ask the owner to re-connect gas pipes, however the owner is often away so you cannot have hot shower when ever you want) and they even did not tell us about it in the first day of arrival. I could not close the door between the bathroom(a little cabin) and a bed room.
Kitchen is not very well equipped.
There is a spacy lobby with fire place, but once we asked for a wood and , the owner disappeared and did not come.
I was going to rent a climbing equipment here but it was very old, worned out and bad quality, but the prices were similar to another rental (Café & Hostal Andes Alpes - only 2min walk nearby in El Chaupi) where I got almost brand new stuff.
Mr. Bladimir came to me every morning (during 3 nights) and always said somethink like "please, can you give me 20 USD" with his outstretched hand, it was his the only attention about us .. this is not the way how to make a business.
In the end I went to the owner, told him about our dissapointment and he even did not returned me my 5 USD he owed me and did not come to say good bye, very...

The main reason people stay here is because it is a good base for the climb of couple mountains of El Corazon and Los Illinizas.||||There are many different rooms in the hostal, some are just a small hole in the wall large enough for a bed, others are nice rooms with a private bathroom, there are also few large rooms with several bed bunks for a group of people. ||||We stayed in a room at the add-on part of the building, which was far from the restaurant and the living area, and offered quiet sleep.||||All in all, the hostal can sleep at least 60 people. ||They offer a package of room, breakfast and a dinner for approx.
