Read moreEl Hotel Del Parque is a truly magical oasis just a 10 minute taxi from the Guayaquil airport. You feel like you are in another world. All the customer service is phenomenal, it smells so good right when you walk in, and the energy is just impeccable. It is a space that is a renovated church and hospice, with the old chapel still in the center. If you want to book a massage in advance, they have a lovely little gym and spa space in the bell tower! There are two central courtyards, one of which has the garden restaurant where you can have breakfast. There are beautiful buffet spreads with delicious local fruits, juices, cafe con leche, filtered water, and yummy gluten free options. The other courtyard has wonderful seating and a magical fountain and lush trees with epiphytes. The space is overall so tranquil and relaxing, nestled in an historic park and next to an animal sanctuary. The rooms themselves are gorgeous, comfortable, and well appointed. The beds were comfy and the room had GREAT air conditioning (as American tourists visiting from the frigid northeast, we really appreciated this!). The showers were HUGE with gorgeous marble floors. All of the guests were respectful and overall quiet. My favorite part was they would burn palo santo every evening at sundown around all the courtyards to protect the plants from bugs, so there weren’t many biting insects and it also smelled amazing and served as a nice energy cleanse. We stayed here for a few nights in our way to the Galapagos and I cannot recommend it enough! So wonderful. Also great to visit the animal sanctuary and Casa Julian while you are there....
Read moreThe hotel is stunning. The staff are welcoming and professional. They will do their best to meet all of your needs. We felt safe and well taken care of the entire stay. Definitely have the hotel transport pick you up at the airport. We were part of a large group attending a wedding, so our transportation for the vast majority of our stay was in vans and was not done by us, but there is a safety concern in Guayaquil, so don't just catch a random taxi. Once at the hotel, procuring reputable transportation is as easy as asking the front desk to call someone for you. Have cash on hand, as taxis do not take credit cards. Our most expensive ride was $10 (the trip back to the airport from the hotel). Samborondón, in general, seems quite safe. It is a pretty upscale area. As for the hotel, the breakfast is an outstanding buffet type breakfast in a gorgeous covered garden area and is included with your stay. Everything is fresh, and locally sourced (if I am not mistaken). There are several options and additional requests don't seem to be an issue at all. The restaurants are open with full service until 11:00 pm, and include all taxes and gratuities. On several occasions food was available even past the 11:00 hour. On Saturday night, as there was a large wedding on the property, room service was available all night. Room service is only about a $1 price increase for each of the menu items. The rooms are spacious and the beds are unbelievably comfortable. The bathroom is also quite spacious and the amenities are wonderful. I wholeheartedly recommend staying at...
