Eco Avocado Lodge — Hotel in San Jose de Minas

Eco Avocado Lodge is by far the absolute best place to stay in Ecuador and one of the best vacations that my wife and I ever had, and we travel often. The lodge is nestled in the mountains of Ecuador and a fairly good distance from Quito, and so, it is a very peaceful place that is almost heavenly with stunning mountain ranges. The people of Ecuador are friendly and proud of their great country and heritage. Ecuador is a safe, affordable and large country (twice the size of NY State). Miri is such a great host and makes you feel like you have known her for many years. She is the best host ever. She was highly attentive and takes the time to ensure that you have the best experience possible. She provides access to all of the best activities and so, we made the arrangements once we arrived at the lodge. There was no need to book in advance with a tour company. These were the excursions and tours that we did: Quito day tour which includes visiting historic and religious sites in town, horseback riding with visits to three waterfalls (the horses were tame and adorable), the best day spa including hot pools and relaxing massage, climbing Cotopaxi mountain, and shopping in Otavalo and a river boat ride. The breakfasts and dinners prepared by Ellena were delicious and healthy. Ellena was super attentive and friendly. She also made phenomenal, authentic Ecuadorian dishes and tropical juices. The property is also incredible with a relaxing pool. The lodge is immaculate and well-maintained and has animals such as sheep and a friendly Alpaca. We definitely recommend Eco Avocado Lodge.
