Tena is located in a gorgeous region, with truly rich landscapes, ecosystems, and culture to be learned about and enjoyed. Therefore, this hostel is great for the price. It’s a bit further from town, so you wouldn’t walk at night but it’s just a $2 taxi. Regardless, you won’t be at the hostel much because you’ll want to be out exploring! ||The best part of this hostel is their connection with a local guide, FAUSTO! I CANNOT say enough about how special and significant it was for me to explore the region with him. He knew the jungle, the canyons, the waterfalls, the rivers like the back of his hand. And even more, he is very connected to the local community so exploring the region with him includes stories and awareness of how native communities use, transit and interact with the land, its plants, its animals, etc. Fausto truly turned my trip to Tena from just a trip to a pretty, unique place, to a meaningful and significant experience I will remember forever. His connection to the jungle was so beautiful and I’m so grateful to have learned about it through him. I highly recommend doing guided trips to learn about the land and its people, and by far asking for Fausto. He is kind, fun, and goes above and beyond in creating a memorable experience. ||Thank you Fausto for showing me the...
Read moreIn total I stayed 3 nights in this amazing hostel - incredible views over Tena, clean rooms and bathrooms, really friendly and helpful staff. Perfect to chill and listen to birds while relaxing in a hammock.
The best thing about the hostel is that the staff will help you to book an Amazon Jungle Tour - one of the best experiences you will ever have! We went on a 3 day Jungle Trip to Limoncocha and the Yasuni National Park with Fausto. He is one of the most amazing tour guides and you will get the best value for your money. You will go Piranha fishing with him, watch alligators at night, cook traditional meals, furthermore he will explain you everything about medical plants and the jungle, you will visit a indigenous family, do multiple jungle hikes, ride a canoe and go birdwatching! Definitely one of the best tour guides I had during my 7 months travel through South America. Try to book a tour with Fausto - you...
Read moreI really enjoyed my stay here. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hostel is outside the city center, 15mins up the hill, which for me it's a good thing. You get to be much closer to the calmness of jungle, but having the facilities and supermarkets of the city nearby. Their kitchen is well equiped, but you also have a nice restaurant (and affordable) restaurant 10mins above the street where you can also find a pool (a very nice place to finish the day). We booked a guided tour with them to a forest reserve near Puerto Misahuallí. Our guide was Fausto, a neighbour of the hostel, who has been doing it for decades and knows the reserve like no other. He is a very special person and makes you feel so at ease. He shared his knowledge about plants and animals of the area with us, which was definitely a high point of our trip. Please come to this hostel and...
