We had a very early flight out of Quito and needed a hotel fairly close to the airport just to sleep for a few hours before taking off. We booked Ilalo Garden Hotel because it stated it was "7 miles from Mariscal Sucre Airport." We trusted that this information was accurate, however it ended up being more like 15-20 miles, about a 30-40 min drive depending on traffic, which is why I docked them a point. ||||Aside from this, the hotel itself was nice. It is located in a residential area and family owned. Very modern, clean, and safe. It offers a restaurant and little shop to buy local natural goods. We did dine at the restaurant, and while decent, the language barrier created a bit of a confusion and we ended up with items we didn't order, and some incorrect modifications, but I really can't hold this against them. Nice large selection of items though, including wine and beer. ||||The rooms themselves are great. Modern, with very comfortable beds, Tv's, and a safe. They offer a little coffee and water station on each floor which is a nice touch. Bathrooms are spacious with nice high pressure showers and local products for use.||My only complaint with the rooms was the plumbing. Our neighbor was taking a shower around 9pm, and it was extremely loud in our room. My guess is the pipes might not be the best, as I have never really encountered this issue in a hotel before.||||Wifi here was the fastest we encountered in Ecuador, which was a huge plus. ||||Staff was friendly and accommodating. They were nice enough to arrange a driver for us at our 3am departure to the airport. ||||Overall, I would recommend this hotel. Nice, modern and comfortable with...
Read moreI stayed here for 2 non-consecutive nights as part of a group tour, and I had a different room for each night. The hotel is located in Tumbaco, a 20 minute drive from the airport, and not particularly convenient for central Quito. I think the tour company used this hotel as it was a good launching point to go to other places (Otavalo, Cotopaxi, etc.) without having to deal with central Quito traffic. The hotel felt very fresh and modern on arrival, and the staff were friendly. There was good wifi throughout. There is a lift in this hotel which was great.||My rooms were very similar for both nights, the only difference being that the 2nd night there was a bathtub in the shower. The rooms were clean and airy with lots of storage space, and the beds were large and comfortable. The bathrooms were also clean and a good size, with consistent water temperature and pressure.||I had breakfast at this hotel both times. It was a reasonable spread but squashed in a small area. There were hot and cold offerings, and they came and asked you how you would like your eggs which was nice. It was a decent breakfast on both occasions.||Overall the hotel was lovely, if you have reason to stay in Tumbaco then I would...
Read moreWe stayed here for three nights in total, before and after a trip to the Galapagos islands, and used it as a great base for exploring Quito, as well as being closer to the airport. The hotel was nicely decorated and the rooms were good - especially for the price. For the final night we had a room with a jacuzzi in which was a great luxury. The restaurant located within the hotel was really nice, did good breakfasts and we ate several other meals there which were all good (and the service from Mohammed was great). The hotel also arranged a half day city tour for us (also going up the equator line park) which was really great (our driver Pablo was excellent), and the staff also let us borrow their mobile phone as we waited for around 2 hours to get through to Avianca to change a flight, which was exceptionally kind (thanks to Martin...
