We stayed here before a late flight in to Quito and before a early flight out of Quito. It's only a 10 minute drive to the airport -- with shuttle service included -- and is a much lower altitude than Quito itself, meaning we were not worried about altitude sickness. Those were key factors to our staying there. It met our needs at a very reasonable price, and was nicer than expected. They were also quite accommodating. ||||The hotel employee was waiting with a board with my name on it when we arrived at the airport/past customs at about 12:30am. The next day, we asked about them arranging a car to take us to Mindo and they did so on almost no notice for $80.||||There is a water cooler accessible at all hours to refill waters. The breakfast was included (as I recall) and was available for us when we needed it. They offered bread, coffee, juice, fruit, cheese, some kind of sliced meat, and one scrambled egg. The place was clean and way nicer than I expected for the price. ||||Yaruqui in a charming little town with nice murals on walls, a town square under a block from the hotel, and plenty of little restaurants and stores. We felt safe there and there was a city festival going on both the morning we arrived and the night we flew out. ||||I did have trouble sleeping the second night because of music and fireworks from the town festival, but that was because I went to bed very early and such festivals are surely rare. It ended by 11pm. If I'd just had the energy to go enjoy it, it would've been lovely I'm sure. Also, there was some dog barking noise, but it wasn't bad.||||There's an upstairs shared common room, and also a tiny balcony.||||I'd definitely stay there again before or...
Read moreWe stayed here for one night before flying to the Galapagos and then 1.5 nights prior to our flights out of Ecuador. The hotel is close to the airport, with free taxi service back and forth, and with very clean rooms. Realize that this isn't a luxury hotel with amenities and you'll do fine. The people running the hotel are wonderful and will do everything in their power to help you. They organized a side trip to the hot springs prior to our departure and even acted as guide for us on it. I've always used Tripadvisor in the past, but never wrote any reviews. After our stay here, I changed my "no review policy" so that I could leave them feedback. They really are a wonderful family-run hotel that you won't want to use if visiting Quito for any length of time (too far out), but that is perfect if needing a place to stay that is close to the airport. They have a decent pizzeria attached to them that they also run. Convenient for their guests, but most of the people coming for pizza were locals, which is a good sign about the...
Read moreVery accommodating staff offering excellent customer service. The free pickup and dropoff service was wonderful. Due to our limited Spanish speaking capabilities the language barrier was an issue at times, but a call was placed to someone who did speak English and this helped tremendously. ||The rooms are basic but clean and more than sufficient for a layover stay. I would suggest bringing ear plugs as the next door neighbors dog barks frequently and loudly. A filtered water station is available for water bottle refills which was awesome and appreciated. The breakfast was fruit, meat, cheese, roll, coffee or tea.||The area is very walkable with very reasonable bakeries and grocery stores located very close by. Greek yogurt is sold at the nearby bakery. I would recommend the attached pizza restaurant or Ruta 66 two blocks to the east walking towards the square and church. Both offered great choices and good food selections. Very reasonable prices and excellent customer service as well as...
