McKays Quinta is an awesome place to stay for a safe and comfortable Ecuadorian experience. The family ownership and engagement contributes mightily to the warmth and hospitality. Mr. McKay and his family are focused on each guest having a unique and personalized experience. The property itself is beautiful - the guest accommodations are a safe and secure home away from home experience with wood stocked fireplaces, large bathrooms, seating and kitchen areas, and inviting and comfortable beds, with strong internet and wifi. The morning breakfast area outside (if you choose) is an ideal way to start the day. The heated pool and bar (and service) are excellent with both warmth and humor. And if you have children with you there is plenty of space for them to discretely and safely run and play to their hearts content. The food menu is both modest and excellently prepared and presented. Mr. McKay and his team were always at the ready to assist us with any arrangements we felt inclined or inspired to take on in full tourist mode in Quito and the surrounding areas. The family soccer field in and of itself gives host to all sorts of sport and event activities guests might choose to engage in. We preferred conversations around the open fire pit in the evenings and cocktails at the intimate “Lukes bar” with its hand painted murals done by a talented and artistic family member. A short distance from Quito airport and easily accessible to the city center. A bit of an oasis of Ecuadorian family charm, security, and warmth. Hi! I was staying at the 'red cabin' with my wife for two weeks in october 2020. The property of McKays Quinta is a very beautiful 'garden ' and very well taken care of. Fabian is a great host and was always there when we needed anything. He would always take care of any problem immediately. The 'red cabin' is a spaceous habitation, with a nice furnishing style. The bathroom is comfortable, there is a big wardrobe inside, and you can get a nice hot shower. The kitchen is well equipped, so you can easily prepare your own meals. The internet connection (wifi) is very good. You will enjoy the rising sun shining into the cabin on most days, but it will also get quite cold during the night. There can be noises from barking dogs and the like in the neighborhood during the night. There are a few small shops and restaurants within a five minute walking distance. And you can of course get the foods/beverages/etc offered by McKays Quinta. The roads leading to the property are pretty rough for a few hundred meters. The area around and the property itself are very safe, we never had to worry about anything getting stolen, etc. Overall it is a very nice place and we can definitely recommend...

We arrive at 1.30am and received an amazing welcome from Fabian, the room was spacious, clean and welcoming, a log fire was ready for use. Please note that heating is not included, this can pack an extra 20 usd minimum daily on the price on cold wet days. The restaurant served very good food and good coffee. The gardens were so beautiful. There are hammocks, swings, giant jenga, tennis, babmington, a heated pool and more. We extended our stay because of the beauty. The trees were ladened with fruit which we were informed to help ourselves. There were so many plants, flowers and birds. I am a harsh reviewer, the only fault was the 5 usd for a few sticks for the fire. we needed 3 bundles for a few hours, I was very cold and the fire was the only form of heating. Heating is NOT included so have this in mind as on cold rainy days it can pack an extra 20 usd daily on the price.
