Recently stayed a few days at the Nubian Village, and Wow! Mahmoud and Aymen went above and beyond to anticipate our every need. Service with a smile 24/7. |The farm is set in a calm and picturesque environment, between Saharan sand dunes to the rear, and the Nile to the front. Access is solely by motorboat, and this is included in the price of your stay. Just give Mahmoud 30min notice and he will ferry you to and from Aswan. The ride is a 10 minute trip through the breathtaking scenery of the national park. Kingfishers, Egrets, Herons abound. When you see the bullrushes you don't have to be religious to immediately think of Moses. |The farm buildings are traditional Nubian buildings, with the high domed roofs, and liberal use of white and blue, with murals and other artistic touches everywhere.|We loved the way they have incorporated the natural environment into their buildings. 2 walls in our house were a quirky and unexpected natural rocky outcrop. Our house was spacious, with 2 bedrooms, a large and clean bathroom, the cleanest I'd seen so far, comprising of bath, shower, toilet and sink. There was also a huge kitchen, but no cooker or fridge. However who wants to cook when such delicious food is available. We used the long worktops as a dressing room, which kept our rooms clutter free, as there are no wardrobes or dressers. The beds were large and comfortable, and the room was quiet.|The food was copious, delicious and very reasonably priced. |The WiFi is good enough for general tourist use. Can't comment for work.|Mahmoud and Aymen where brilliant, full of good humour, and always available.|The highlights for me were sitting, with my feet in the Nile as the sun rose overhead and Kingfishers dived for breakfast. |You are in a nature reserve, so there are no buildings in front of you, just peace and quiet in a stunning environment. |Note that they are presently building tree houses right on the Nile, that will have easy access. From what I've seen, they will be stunning. Take mosquito repellent, you are on the Nile. However although there are clouds of them at sunrise and sunset, they are not present all night. I only got bitten once, on arrival I'm allergic to mossie bites but wouldn't...
Read moreMy sister and I had a wonderful time here, and I'm surprised at all the negative reviews because they don't echo our experience. Mahmoud and Aymen could not do enough for us. Yes, the TV was very loud at times, it was set to the Mecca channel or the football. But when we asked if it could be turned down a bit, they turned it off. Our rooms were clean and comfortable and most unusual, in that they had incorporated a huge rock into the building. It's all traditional Nubian domed buildings, which makes the rooms lovely and cool, we didn't need the aircon even though it was March and getting pretty hot outside. You will need mosquito repellent, but they are only bothersome at sunrise and sunset. The setting is stunning. I sat, with my feet in the Nile, watching Herons, Kingfishers, and Egrets diving for fish as the sun rose over the bullrushes. The huge clumps of bullrushes immediately make you think of Moses, even if you're not religious. I loved my time there and was sad to leave. I wouldn't hesitate to return. However, if you are looking for some luxury, the bustle f night life, and the freedom to come anfmd go at will, maybe Nubian Farm is not for you. The sheer beauty and the peace do require a little bit of compromise. Mahmoud is happy to ferry you to and from Luxor. It takes about 10 to 15 mins, as you pass through some amazing scenery in the motor boat. He does need 20 to 30...
Read moreGuests can only get there by ferry and it's inaccessible to road traffic from the airport. I didn’t know this so I thought I could take a taxi there from the airport without the hotel’s help. The hotel had messaged me for my arrival time but I didn’t see the hotel’s message until I landed at the airport at 23:45, when I knew I had to be picked up by the hotel ferry. So I called them, but they didn’t answer, although they claim they have a 24 hour front desk. I had no choice but to find and stay at another hotel at 2 am. The next day I called them and they answered very coldly that I didn’t reply to their messages. The thing is, their messages were hidden after piles of other information so it’s easy to overlook the real messages. Even if their messages were sent in an obvious way, they still have no reason to accuse guests of not replying! Guests should be able to reach a 24 hour hotel reception whenever they want, not the other way around!Especially when the hotel knew that there was a guest still not arriving and not contacted, they should make sure that the phone was reachable! Running a business is not like having a relationship with a boyfriend. The last thing a hotel should complain is that the guests don’t reply! Especially some tourists don’t have internet connection...
