Helio Cairo Hotel — Hotel in Cairo

I imagined that 2* would mean something, but as a 'guest' in this hotel, if feel there should be a minus star catagory. OK the room was not so bad, though the walls were smeared with a revoltingly-coloured stucco. The w.c. / bathroom was mean by any standards and the geyser switch (reachable from the shower tray) was seriously dangerous, as was the broken switch of the a/c unit, where the live contacts could be touched.||||Whilst the front desk guys were ok, the owner (an old toad of a man) who occupied a desk in the foyer displayed no sign of welcome whatsoever. His entire concentration, whenever I saww him, was on checking ledgers and counting money. I might as well have been a side of beef for all the acknowlwedgement I received.||||Breakfast was a nightmare. Of all the delicious food available in Egypt, our set breakfast was:-||1 VERY hard-boiled egg||1 wedge of plasticky processed cheese||1 sachet of (apparently) strawberry jam||1 piece of bread so touch it could have been used for re-soling shoes.||||I was offered tea, instant coffee of Arabic coffee, none of which I wanted. I asked for karkade (hibiscus) tea and the waiter brought me a cup of that but within moments he was being chastised loudly by a senior waiter. I asked the matter and the senior waiter shouted at me that I owed EGP.5 extra (about 1 US dollar) for the karkade because it was not on the set menu. ||||The junior waiter was the only one in the whole place who made any attempt at hospitality.||||There was no information to be had, no maps, nothing. The hotel located in the front of suns club (El shams club )..not so far from the airport The build from outside not bad the entrance is so small Area... The reception hall with so old furniture With one big TV The elevator not working well without any safety..plus some doors floors not working The rooms also with old furniture the bed also not comfortable at all The toilet really less than standard..no shampoo..no toilet paper...the shower room not ready for using The AC working well The power down couple of times while I stay and no backup line The internet not in all of the hotel (exp the reception Area) The Restaurant also with old furniture and old wall painting like all the hotel The chief not that bad in the launch meals..but the morning breakfast...

Booked a triple room. Only given one bath towel, two hand towels and bath mat. Requested additional towels to be given one extra bath towel (that was damp like it had been taken from the dryer before it was finished drying) and 2 extra hand towels.|Tap to toilet was leaking creating dangerous situation on bathroom floor. |Tried to raise with reception but he didn’t understand English. |We placed all the towels on the floor and these were sodden wet in the morning. ||Window did not seal properly leaving an open gap.
