Steigenberger Hotel El Lessan — Hotel in Damietta

My experience here was terrible. i came here with my family for a two day stay like we do every year, and from the beginning there were problems. First of all, the Hotel was packed as there was a conference being held and so we were told there were no rooms available, only suites. On entering the suite, we found our room to be scorching hot. the view was nice from the balcony but the sun was too much. I didn’t mind it too much, but then we found that the AC was not working. we waited around an hour to see if it was temporary, but no. The AC was blowing out HOT air, and after a long day of travelling, we couldn’t even unpack. We called room service to see if it was a fluke and they sent up the repair guy who said that there was nothing wrong and we just had to wait. WAIT? we’ve been waiting for an hour. The day was flying past and we hadn’t even unpacked. We called the reception again and they sent up the man at the reception desk to sort it out. He entered, acknowledged that it was unusually hot and said that it was supposed to he “ice cold”. We told him that the repair guy said it was normal, when even the corridors where colder than the room. The repair guy came back and both of the workers tried to convince us that it was normal. We refused and asked for a different room. of course they said there wasn’t a free room, which was a complete lie as we found out there were two free rooms. (Normal rooms not suites). We moved rooms after about 2 hours of back and forth and the room was not even clean. The bathroom smelt like rotten eggs and gave my aunt a huge headache, eventually causing her to throw-up. We then went to the reception desk to refund the money for the suite as we had downgraded, and the man had the audacity to haggle with us. he said that there was “nothing wrong with the suite” when there clearly was, and we stood for FOURTY FIVE MINUTES on our feet trying to get our money back. No compensation. No apologies. By the time we had settled the money difference, the day was over. Frustrated, tired and hungry, we decided to eat at the restaurant, which the service was surprisingly better. From the moment we arrived, the staff at the gate gave us a warm welcome that made us feel right at home. Special thanks to Mohamed El Souissi for his honesty and care in handling our family’s luggage – he made our arrival a truly smooth and enjoyable one.

The professionalism of Mr. Naeem and Mr. Ahmed Maher during the check-in process was impressive. They were quick and efficient, and made sure our room reservations were completed in a timely manner, allowing us to start enjoying our vacation right away.

Salwa from the security department deserves a shout-out for her excellent communication skills, especially with our children and elderly family members. Her friendly approach helped everyone feel safe and comfortable throughout our stay.

The hotel facilities are top notch! The pool was a highlight for our family, providing a pristine environment to relax and have fun. The cafes offered a fantastic range of options, perfect for a relaxing evening. And the breakfast buffet? Absolutely exceptional!
