Location : nothing short of amazing. It has the view of the lake, mountains, olive grooves, sunrise and sunset. Located at the quieter part of the lake perimeter and walking distance to the shore. There are plenty of birds but unfortunately the flamingos (the main reason we came) already migrated north by the time we arrived.
Amenities : plenty of room to chill. Thereโs the cozy room downstairs and open air covered rooftop above. Also places to sit and enjoy the fire. The chalets come with ensuite bathroom. We stayed in the tent so we used the communal bathroom.
Cleanliness : the cleanest and well arranged campground I have ever been to. The communal bathroom are all very clean without molding or slippery surfaces. They provides enough tissues and also a big bin outside and small bin inside each bathroom. The bathroom smells nice too. The staff clean the bathroom at least once a day.
Food : breakfast and dinner is the same for both days we were there. No complaint though. Plenty of food for us all. The hot drinks like tea, coffee and milk are available too with extra cost - very much needed when the weather is cold and the wind is blowing.
Safety : I feel very safe. On our second night, the wind was blowing so hard but the tent hold on, there are no fallen branches or fences. And the dog was ever present, which really makes me feel safe. She followed us as we had our morning walk by the lake, she was around when we stand in the pitch dark looking at the stars and she stayed in front of the tent when i was alone there. She is a very well trained dog and understands when you do not want her too close.
Services and communication : the owner, Mohammed speaks English and is very communicative from the start until the end. He patiently answered my texts, kept communicating with us when we are travelling from Aswan to the campsite and even offered us the chalets as soon as it becomes available. The staffs do not speak english but they tried the best. Both the drivers for our safari and also our transfer between cairo and campsite are excellent, especially the later. He pointed to the pyramids, the fox, the lakes etc and ever so willing to make brief stops for us to take pictures. He is indeed the best driver.
Activities : the Tunis village is within quarter an hour driving distance where you can do pottery classes. There are plenty of excursions and we opted for wadi el hittan, wadi rayyan, magic lake and waterfall. It is a full day for our option. Mohammed even arranged for the driver to make snack stop but we did not because we are still full from breakfast and by the time we finish, it was already near dinner time.
The price maybe at the high side but i think it is value for money for all the...
ย ย ย Read moreWe had a wonderful stay at Mangrove Camp Fayoum in may 2022. We were picked up in Caรฏro by Omar, who was just lovely and made the drive up to Fayoum a great little trip. He showed us beautiful sites along the way and was nothing but warm and friendly. At the camp (which was beautiful) we were treated like we were welcome house guests, we recieved a delicious and healthy dinner, had good conversation with host Mohamed and slept in a canvas tent under the stars. (Bring your own bedding if need a blanket, or ask for it in advance). We felt welcome and safe.
During our stay we were given a tour of the surroundings by a young man who was about our age and we had so much fun, we felt like we were out with a friend! He took us through the Oasis and the dessert. He took us to the valley of the Wales (AMAZING. The most alien landscape, red sand with giant pebble shaped structures scattered about and along a barely there path fossils of prehistoric whales in the desert, with FEET. There is nothing like it.) We also swam in a gorgeous lake, drove over plateaus with the most breathtaking views and by dried up sea beds that were bright white because of the coin shaped shells that had been there for 40.000 years. We were only there for two days, but it was spectacular and in the same time it was such an effortless and calming experience. We will...

Food was absolutly amazing for both dinner and breakfast. Lots of chilling cozy spots around the little camp with great peacefull views
Less positive sides: The price which was a little bit too high, for simple tents. i would recommend some simple improvements which would have been nice and cheap to set up: some towels. and maybe a little table or chair in the tents as there is no space to put your belongings. same thing for the bathrooms when taking the shower... it is not easy to hang all the cloths on only 2 nails... the dogs who lived at the camp were cute and nice, but too noisy sometimes at...
