Outside pool area pleasent, and gardens etc ok. The rooms are dated, if your lucky some plugs may work and some lights may have bulbs in them, no flat screen TV or mod cons like USB ports. Wi-Fi doesn't extend to rooms well, it's intermittent at best. You cannot see Pryamids from hotel like website alludes to. They will not supply water, it all has to be purchased and despite what website says no tea/coffee making facilities in room. In the morning you can hear many English speaking guests complaining that there is no water and you haven't got the option to drink tap water - it's like they purposely with hold it knowing you need it and another incentive to get money. Not funny if you wake at 3am with no options to get a drink. No lunch or food facilities really available outside breakfast/dinner hours. Don't expect to be told or informed of anything in the hotel like the meal times, excursions or outside activies, there is no information of any description in reception like leaflets. My Advise- ask another English speaking guests and see if they've figured it out. Not a lot of choice at meal times, a few nights we were told it was a set menu, you get what you are given. In the morning none of the foods are labelled which is an issue as none of chefs I encountered speak English. So dietary requirements may be hassle if you don't know what's in it or what it is. It's mostly bean/lentil type stew stuff in shades of brown and boiled eggs. Butter is rare. I'd not stay here again, if I came back to cairo I'd book a Hilton or Marrott as you know what you're getting. But, if you only plan to stay a day or so this place may suit you fine, I just found it dysfunctional and the consensus from other European guests was the same. However, Cairo is dysfunctional and choas so I suppose it's in keeping with the region.

Gazing across Giza's sands, the Cataract hotel seamlessly melds past and present. I've been here many times – alone, with friends, family, and kids – each visit offering a new view. The view as you arrive is amazing. With the Pyramids close, it's like stepping into history. The Pyramids seem to stand guard, telling ancient stories. The Cataract's story goes back, from a royal lodge to a place for those who love pyramid views. Now, it's a mix of old charm and modern comfort. Inside, it's grand. The design mixes old and new, and rooms feel luxurious. They're comfy spaces to unwind. You can relax by the pool or stroll around. The Pyramids are always there, making it special. Time seems to blend here, with past and present joining. The Cataract looks after modern travelers. You can pamper yourself at the spa or try different foods that you won't forget. Eating at Khan El Khalili is a treat. The flavors are a mix of old and new, served under chandeliers or open skies. The Cataract takes care of what we need today. It has what's needed and tries to be eco-friendly. What's really special is the feeling. You're where kings were, part of a big history. Seeing the Pyramids in the moonlight is something else. In the end, the Cataract is about mixing old stories and modern comfort. It's not just a place to stay, but a link between now and back then. If Egypt's past and the Pyramids interest you, it's worth a visit.

Considering the pricing of the rooms, you definitely get your money's worth. The resort is nice (especially the pool area) and the rooms are OK. Linen was clean and the AC worked. Showers and the tap in the bathroom leaked, but served their purpose. Water bottles were five times more expensive than elsewhere, when they should be readily available in the Egyptian summer climate. I was not given a towel card for the pool nor any information about the Wi-Fi when I checked in.

YOU HAVE TO READ THIS! Please listen to me if you are planning to book a room here. I stayed here for 2 days and if I honestly could give the place 0 stars, I would have. When I got there, I was told I had come 3 hours early and needed to come back then, despite carrying 5 hand trolley and 3 kids. When I came back, 5 hours later, we were taken to our room, you have to walk 5 min from reception to the actual rooms and no stairs or wifi to the rooms. However, the rooms: Firstly, it has many mosquito, that caused me to have many marks all over my body. Secondly, the rooms are not clean, there are dirty bed covers and dirty toilets. Also, the rooms are very old themed, with a small TV and old furniture. Thirdly. so many safety hazards, for instance in my room there was a lamp attached to the wall, right on top of the bed, so I would instantly hit my head when waking up. Fourthly, the AC do not work, we had 4 different people coming in to try to fix it but none of them could, we requested room change but they were worse as one had a smell problem and another was too messy (had empty bottles on the floor, dirty towels and toilet and dirty floor). Lastly, the main reason the hotel was bad was because of the staff, as most reviews agree. The reception were very nerve racking, after many complaints from the room, we requested for the hotel manager (Mohammed) who was worse, despite the complaints from his hotel he replied with sarcastic comments, that made us waste hours in the reception arguing. Going from 4 different rooms, none were good, as it was late night, we gave up. Not only, did they ruin our trip but made us late to our flight, which we missed because of the manger not being able to pay 10 pounds for the food we got from their diner despite him giving us permission too get the food as of the faulty rooms. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AND DO NO...

I will never go there again The staff are very rude especially the manager in the reception .The rooms were dirty smelly We had a problem with the air-conditioning it was not working every time we phone for someone to come and fix it At some point they disconnected my phone because I keep on calling them I had to go to the reception so many times they come and do something to it they say wait 10 minutes and it should be working but it doesn’t so you have to phone back again it was blowing cold air especially at night when it was cold The bathrooms filthy and dirty the floors were dirty we even had a dead fly in the room I have pictures to prove it . I will not even give this hotel a one star don’t know how they get away with it please do not waste your money going to that hotel Don’t be fooled by the pictures you see The reception manager does not care how tired or stressful you are we went early although the check-in is at 12 o’clock we went 8:30 o’clock we said is there any place we could freshen up and leave our bags as we came early they said we had to use the toilet downstairs next to the reception which was filthy and dirty I know the check-in is at 12 o’clock so if you do go early make sure you are prepared to wait in the reception although they had other rooms which we didn’t mind taking but they say you have to come back at 12 o’clock because that’s the time you check-in which is understandable but they could of provided us with something or a place where we could of freshen up and put our luggage away they will let you put the luggage next to the security guard but at...
