Let me begin with the information you need to know visiting Cairo/Egypt for the first time. This hotel is new and still learning the ropes. If you are not comfortable with expressing what you need, what you are happy/unhappy with, or afraid of how they will take your feedback, this is not the hotel for you. (And Egypt won't be the country either 😂). The Egyptian culture and people are the nicest and most accommodating people on this planet. Do not be afraid to talk to the people and tell them how you feel. Everyone wants to help you and be your friend. This goes for all of Egypt, not just the hotel.
Rooms: If you want a smoking room, request it when you check in. If you want a balcony, do the same. When you get inside your room, check everything. The water, the sheets, the toliet and shower, the outlets, etc. If anything is not up to your standard or not working for some reason, notify the staff immediately and let them help you. It will be resolved in an instant, this is not America. Like most of the rest of the world, you need to leave a key in the room to keep any lights or AC activated, otherwise, it will turn off after a timer is up when you leave. You can ask a room service team member to give you a white key for this purpose if you want to come back to a cool room. Generally, the rooms are amazing and I encountered no issues with the room I was given. - The bed/couch is very comfortable, and there is even a desk with a chair to do some work if you are crazy enough to work while you are in the best place in the world. *It was my birthday while I was here and they made me feel like an absolute King. I will not spoil the surprise for anyone visiting on their birthday or honeymoon with what I walked into after a day of touring, but they know how to make you feel very special.
Service: As mentioned, don't be afraid to talk to staff. they are your best asset here in Egypt and want you to be safe and happy. *I dropped cash by the pool on accident and left my card under a chair even (Yes I am an Idiot sometimes too) and not a cent was lost before it was promptly returned to me within FIVE minutes. The pool is amazing, make friends with the staff at the pool if you plan to spend any significant amount of time out by or in the water. Free towel and food/drink delivery service poolside. There are two outdoor pools and an indoor spa. The spa costs to go in or to have any work done, but it is absolutely affordable. If you need to workout, there is also a gym inside the hotel that seems very nice.
Location: As others have mentioned, this hotel is in NEW GIZA. That means that you can expect to drive 30-45 min + depending on traffic to pretty much anywhere in Cairo or greater Cairo. Saqaara and Dashur are easily over an hour 15 from here. That being said, this hotel is the safest place on the entire continent. Security is very tight and there are multiple security staff, military police, and checkpoints to make sure that anyone staying here feels the safest they could ever be. It is true, and I never had the feeling of not being safe here. If I could refer literally all of the security staff and police I would but unfortunately there are too many to list.
more: smoking is a staple of the egyptian culture. If you dont like cigar or ciggarette smoke, well, Egypt is going to be hard for you 😂. Most people will go outside out of respect to others. If you are alone or there is no one around, dont feel bad smoking a cigar or two inside the lounge or by the bar. It is common and acceptable. Cigars are pretty expensive but cigarettes are very very cheap in Egypt. There is a convenience store right by the hotel, Also a bistro right next door to that. Hotel food is great, three resturants and three different menus to chose from with food from all over the world.
Excellent staff: Ekramy Soliman & M. Abo El Fotouh & Mohmoud Ali & Hisham Shendy & Mohamed Soliman (Lounge Bar, the best of the best 😁👍) Mamdouh Malak & Ahmed Ammar (pool) Ayman Attiia, Ehab Moheb, Amr samir (front desk) Kenzy...
Read moreThis gorgeous hotel is located in New Cairo, just outside the busyness of Cairo, yet close enough for easy day trips. It’s elegant pool is a welcome refuge after spending a day at the market, the Cairo Museum, or the Great Pyramids (which you can see in the distance from the roof), and the rooms are beautiful. I could not love the people, the service, the amenities, or the location more!
When my tour returned to Cairo, I had tested positive for covid and isolated here. This allowed me to become well acquainted with the people who run the hotel, the restaurants, and the in-room dining. I could not have been in better hands, and even though my tour group flew home and I stayed there on my own, I never felt alone and was always treated like family.
The food was lazeez (delicious). They have an elaborate breakfast and dinner buffet at the main restaurant or one can order off the menu (which is done for lunch). The staff is jovial, heart-centered, and service oriented. They can make you a traditional Egyptian breakfast if you request it, which is not only lazeez, but will set you up for a day of exploration. I became acquainted with a most charming waiter named Ally, who was a delight to see everyday. The breakfast chef at the omelette station makes an incredible foul (ful) and falafel (as well as omelettes). There was a woman who worked at the front of the restaurant who always greeted me with such warmth. There is a second restaurant on the premises with an intriguing menu at which I ate once, and the combination of flavors in the appetizer was perfect as was the meal.
I enjoyed in-room dining with heart, flavor, and nutrition, eating every meal from there while in isolation. Mina, the manager of in-room dining, Salwa, who helps Mina run it, and Ahmed, who brought me food several times all took such good care of me. I never felt alone during that time. They were incredibly responsive and compassionate. Whenever I spoke with Mina, it felt like I was speaking to a caring friend or family member. Salwa was, also, incredible. She treated me like her family, bringing me hot water with lemon, helping me move rooms, always asking about me, and telling me I would be better soon. Ahmed brought me food and lemon water several times and was sweet and caring. They have a very special team.
While I was recovering, the doctor on staff at the hotel, Omar, came to see me each day in the beginning to ensure I was getting better (not worse) and his protocol was top notch. He was intelligent, well-versed in covid protocol, and he worked with me and with my home physician’s protocol. These visits and the care and effort of the in-room dining team made such a difference in how I recovered so far away from home.
While I was isolating, the lovely and very capable Manager of Guest Services, Merna, and another jewel in Guest Services, Nina, moved me to a room with a patio, so I could get some fresh air without exposing others and called often to check on me often. Merna accommodated me, again, when some noisy neighbors took the room next door. I asked for a quieter room while I recovered, and they moved me to a gorgeous room with a large deck overlooking the stage. If something happened that I didn’t understand Merna and Nina would handle it. One time, I was told I couldn’t charge a meal to my room. It was late, I was tired. I called and Nina swiftly resolved the matter. Nina is intelligent, capable, and has a beautiful way of interacting with the guests, which leaves a very positive impression of the hotel. Once the isolation was over, I got to know both Nina and Merna a little better. I look forward to seeing them again one day. The housekeeping staff was meticulous in their work and quite friendly as well.
I cannot say enough about this hotel. Do not hesitate to stay there if you are going to Egypt. It is as special and beautiful as the land you are...
Read moreWe have just stayed for 5 nights at the Hyatt Regency Cairo West. I was travelling with my elderly, disabled Mother, because going to Egypt has been the only thing on her bucket list for 76 years! I have to be honest, planning this trip was a challenge, because of my Mom’s mobility difficulties but the staff at the Hyatt Regency could not have been more obliging, kinder or more supportive. Nothing was a problem, they anticipated where we might need help and made my Mother feel like a visiting dignitary. I am truly grateful to them one and all. The Hyatt Regency is a five star hotel, beautifully appointed and they keep the highest standards of cleanliness and professionalism. All areas of the hotel are accessible to wheelchair users and splendid rooms designed for people with mobility issues are available on request. The food was sensational. We only ate at the Hyatt to avoid any possible tummy upsets. Breakfast was included and was quality. Everything was available from pastries to eggs and cold platters, but the Egyptian food was wonderful and we quickly gave up the Western idea of breakfast for their tasty, traditional offering. We ate dinner in the restaurant every evening. We had the best steak we had ever eaten as well as fresh shellfish, freshly cooked vegetables, salads and ice in our drinks . Expect to pay 5 star prices, especially for an imported drink like rum and coke. However, we had two main meals, T Bone steak and Lobster and two soft drinks and the English conversion from Egyptian pounds was around £80.00, which we didn’t think was very dear at all given the quality and quantity of the food. The pool is heated to 29 degrees all year round and the spar pool is cool if you want to exercise. All the tourist attractions are about 30 mins away by car – give or take the traffic. On Friday there is a huge street market in Cairo – its simply massive. If you want airport transfers or to go on any trips we recommend you talk to Hany at the View Travel desk in the Hotel Lobby. His prices are very reasonable, and his vehicles are immaculate, as are his staff. He set us up with 3 day trips to see all the sights, with a dedicated driver, Tarek. Terek could not have been better, a superb driver who made us feel safe on the crazy roads of Cairo. In addition, he insisted on wheeling Mom everywhere, gaining access and getting help to lift her when there was simply no disabled access; he anticipated her every wish and the experience would not have been the same without him. Our most sincere thanks goes to Tarek. In fact all the staff get our heartfelt thanks and for their thoughtfulness and springing into action if there was the slightest thing they could do to make my Mothers stay more comfortable. They all speak excellent English and a few other languages to boot. A few names that must be mentioned for being outstanding are Walaa, on Reception, Aly breakfast manager and Donia. Ayman, Mohamad x 2, Hamado, John, Nour and Peter Our advice to anyone thinking of visiting Cairo but are put of by being a female traveller/s or being vulnerable in some way our advice would be to ‘just do it’ It was the experience of our life time and we will always have the most special memories of the whole experience. Just make sure you go to a really good, reputable hotel like the Hyatt Regency and book your excursions with someone like Hany in View Travel, so you know you will be safe and just ENJOY...
