A Desert Oasis: Our Stay at Qasr El Salam
Our recent stay at Hotel Qasr El Salam was an unforgettable experience. Nestled amidst the stunning desert landscape of Siwa, this hotel offered the perfect blend of comfort, tranquility, and authentic Egyptian charm.
From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a sense of relaxation. The hotel's traditional architecture and lush gardens created a serene atmosphere that immediately transported us away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Our spacious room was beautifully decorated with local touches, providing a comfortable and inviting space to unwind.
The hotel's pool was a welcome respite from the desert heat, offering a refreshing oasis where we could soak up the sun and enjoy the breathtaking views. The on-site restaurant served delicious local cuisine, showcasing the flavors of Siwa in every dish.
One of the highlights of our stay was the opportunity to explore the surrounding desert and ancient sites. The hotel's knowledgeable staff arranged guided tours that allowed us to experience the beauty and history of this unique region.

ย ย ย Read moreWe enjoyed our stay here for the most part. The location is fine and hotel is good overall. The wifi had some problems, but when working, it was about as fast as other "fast" wifi in Siwa. However, the connection in the rooms is a problem at times and you may need to use your phone as a wifi extender. The staff and manager/owner can be super friendly, generous (thank you for the dates!), and easy to deal with. However, they do try to funnel you towards the tours a bit too much. We probably heard the word "tour" said at least 5 times just in the first hour and probably 5 times again the next morning. Some staff may even act totally different after you decide not to do a tour, which is sad. The room was good and had what we needed with a good shower as well. However, the rugs in the room smelled like pee and we had to clean the floor again since it was covered in wet sand. It seems the cleaners may be trying to be too fast and they are sometimes too noisy in the morning (yelling and playing music loudly). Breakfast is very good and not low effort at all. Overall, we were satisfied with the stay and would consider staying again if coming...
ย ย ย Read moreStayed here whilst visiting Siwa. Loved the hotel, the staff and the town and people of Siwa.
Ali the owner (El-Basha) was really accomodating and speaks English. Anwar and Abou Bakr were absolute gems. The room was right by the pool and clean. The hotel itself is about a 10 min walk from the village centre, but we would just hitch a ride with whoever was driving past (no taxis or Uber here - love it!)
FYI You donโt need a โguideโ - itโs just a driver you need. Abou Bakrโs 4WD was perfect to take you to all the sites you need to see. Just read up on the rest.
The people of Siwa are not like other touristic places in Egypt, which was fantastic and refreshing. No hustle, no constant naggingโฆjust great.
The main restaurant in downtown is called Abduโs - simple, Egyptian cuisine at its raw.
Come to Siwa - 10 hours drive + 3 military checkpoints is still worth...
