The ancient city in the Siwa Oasis was built using clay and palm trees. The houses stood for centuries until early 1920s when unusually strong rains hit the place. Houses collapsed within few days. People built new, more modern ones, however, the old ruins attract visitors ever since. If you wish to experience the atmosphere of old days, stay at a hotel built in one of the ruined houses and travel back in time - you can easily imagine the 21st century is far in future.
