3.5/5 - Based on the coral reef and the staff we would have gave this 5 stars but a few things let this place down. ||PROS |•it’s situated right on a coral reef, it’s not signposted but there’s a dock you can swim off. Some of the coral is dead and bleached but it’s brimming with fish. The lifeguard on the dock will throw food to attract the fish if you’re snorkelling which was an amazing experience. ||•beach is stunning. Walk further along from the main path from the hotel and there’s no rocks. Clear water, soft sand and warm. The huts are for nudists. |The sea is full of jellyfish, like ALOT of them but they don’t sting and we swam with and touched them each time. Someone was out every morning at sunrise cleaning and smoothing the sand out. ||•the staff are fantastic. INCREDIBLY helpful. The pool guys were great, they laid our towels out in the same spot we situated each day and placed a red flag by our beds (which means no soliciting/selling). Some staff did exclaim how much they loved the British people because we are so polite and friendly and I’ve found we got that in return. |I broke the bidet one evening and flooded our toilet, the men who came to fix it had a good laugh and mended it straight away. ||•WiFi is available in the main hotel, by both pools AND on the beach. We didn’t get it in our chalet but did a few steps from our balcony. ||•drinks and bar staff. FAB. One member of staff I think a supervisor as he wore a different shirt, remembered our drink orders and brought us new ones when ours were low without asking. None of them ask or even push for tips. ||CONS||•nowhere to change cash. The machine on the hotel didn’t accept our cash or cards. ||•the smoothie guy. If you’ve stayed here you know exactly who I mean. The drinks and alcohol are all inclusive but there’s a smoothie shop on the beach who comes around the restaurant and pool trying to sell them. The main guy is friendly enough but we said no each time and kept getting asked “why?”. Every day, we got sick of it on day 3. ||•food. I don’t want to say it’s necessarily a negative but I’m a vegetarian and struggled with variety. My plate always had enough on it each meal but there’s only so much pasta and salad you can eat. My partner eats meat and said some days we’re just okay but others were really good. Make sure to go outside at the end of the restaurant as they have a guy making omelettes on a morning and usually have a special on an evening. BBQ, grilled meats etc. the beach usually has burgers, fries and pizza. The pool bar has ice cream from 1-3pm. ||•rooms - I thought the rooms were nice although a little outdated. You get 2 big bottles of water each day either in your fridge or left outside your room if you don’t request cleaning. We were given a partial sea view without paying. The negatives were that the air con was extremely loud, we couldn’t keep it on at night because it rattled so bad. Plenty of wardrobe space and the safe was easy to use. I would have liked the option of a single sheet rather than a duvet, the only blanket in the wardrobe was woolly and thick. The wicker chairs on the balcony were still usable but were broken and the seats starting to collapse. ||•grounds - although absolutely stunning, brimming with greenery, lots of birds and always had someone maintaining, there was a few exposed wire and loose pavement bricks. We were a 2-3 minute walk from the main site which was a lovely walk but imagine if you’re a little older or have a physical disability this might be tricky. ||Overall, we had a lovely stay. We had nothing to complain about other than a couple of grumbles to each other. ||TIPS|•our rep charged a bit more for excursions than the guy that comes around the pool. We HIGHLY recommend Orange Bay as an excursion. The snorkelling spots on the way were a bit choppy but they supplied life vests, masks, fins and snorkels and worth jumping in. ||•tipping - the staff seem to genuinely give excellent service without expecting tips but we tipped EGP 20-100 depending on the service. Not a single person asked for a tip except the taxi driver on the way to the airport on our last day. ||•you have to pay £/$25 for a visa to get into Egypt. Pay this at the proper booths and make sure you get a sticker in your passport. |On the way out, back to the UK, the first bag check is for bombs NOT liquids. Keep your water bottles until you get to the next checkpoint. |The airport food hall is roughly double the cost in £GBP. So 300EGP will be £6. |Water by the gates is only £1 so a lot cheaper than bottles on a flight! ||We would return to...
Read moreJust come back from a weeks stay at coral beach resort . We were a group of 8 women and we loved every minute of our stay. Felt very safe and all staff were so friendly and very helpful always there to give a hand in any situation. Weather it was ordering drinks or helping us to find our way about I couldn't fault a thing. The weather was beautiful and so was the hotel..pretty lights at night and beautiful surroundings. Everything you could possibly need was in the actual resort so u don't have to go out. There's a handy supermarket for supplies such as soft drink crisps chocolate sweets cigarettes etc which also sells lovely bikinis swimsuits and t-shirts at a really good price. The other clothes shops are a bit more expensive but handy if u need anything like shorts dresses or beach overshirts..there were some lovely Egyptian style dresses there I came bk with 3. There is an excellent spa there..we made friends with the people who worked in there very quickly we even Nick named one of them pumba..he was lovely and very good at his job the different treatments he offered were of good price and excellent..one of my friends had her feet done and she said it was the best she had ever had done..my friend and I had a facial which I would highly recommend as my face is still really soft after a week of having it done. They also offer tattoos henna or real.Haircuts dyes and braides. The food was lovely plenty to choose from so there's always something you'll find u like which has a brilliant kids corner very child friendly..the Italian restaurant was excellent with very hard working staff who were always running about after us and never moaned. Always had smiles on their faces.pizza there was divine. All bar staff are excellent u never have to wait to be served they even bring drinks to yr table they were soooo good. There's a very good natural shop there with a lovely gentleman called Casper who will show you his natural flavoured teas and pure oils tht he has for sale . His pure aloe Vera is really good for sunburn etc as it is very hot and easy to burn if you don't protect yrself enough with suncreams. He was only to happy to help us. There's a handy pharmacy too. The beach was a little walk away from the main pool very easy to get to and a bonus u didn't have to go out of the resort as it's their own private beach..there u can ride a camel or a horse or book other trips with the guys who walk about. The main pool has a lovely bar with a lovely guy we all called mo mo he made sure we had the best time while we were at the bar or sunbathing..Always ready to serve us a drink or bring it to us and have a laugh with you the holiday would not have been the same without him. The other pool is a quiet pool away from noise and people so if u like a bit more privacy thts the one for you. Also a bar there. The animation manager and his team were brilliant always entertaining us with a different show each night .. they include the guests in the show and have competitions which are all such fun everyone always clapping and cheering not a sad face to be seen. They also make trips out to clubs of a night time .. they put on transport to the club and bk to the hotel and keep u safe while yr in the club dancing yr heart out..some nights are ladies nights which include free transport free entry and free drinks till 1am and if you don't want to leave the resort they also have a club in the resort but defo not as good as going out with the animation team..they are so much fun. I would definitely go back as I could not fault a thing beautiful place with everything at hand they even have a perfume oil shop with good prices and smells just like the real thing. I brought 4 x 35ml bottles from there. We also got some great deals in one shop tht sold handbags and purses. 3rd time for us in Egypt and this was one of the best hotels I've stayed at so far...thankyou to everyone that works there you all made our holiday perfect top...
Read moreI stayed at this hotel from 8th to 15th of May, with three adults, a 14-year-old child, and a 2-year-old toddler. The room itself was neither good nor terrible. Torn curtains with stains, same mattress protectors, worn-out mattresses and chairs – this is the standard for a 4-star hotel in Egypt, so I wasn't surprised. Ants, although small, mostly roamed on our table. Given that we spent little time in the room, they didn't bother us much, but they exist, and despite reporting them to reception, someone came to exterminate them, but it didn't change the situation. We asked to change rooms, but what we saw in other rooms disappointed us completely, so we decided not to change rooms, thinking it would suffice. A piece of excrement lay in front of our veranda all the time we stayed at the hotel. Overall, the territory is very large, poorly planted with vegetation (mainly in areas close to the main building and pool), and there is a lot of trash in the corners and in the area between the bungalows (all rooms are separate bungalows, which was one of the main reasons for our booking there, so we wouldn't have to run around with a stroller). Housekeeping were working ok, and rooms were clean, additionally for small tips every days statues from towels - child happy! No free wifi in the room. Be ready to pay 6$ per day! only slow wifi at the reception. Better to buy sim in the airport if you need a wifi. Safe for free in the rooms, same as kettle. No any shampoo, shower gel, soap, body lotion. Only dispenser on the wall with all in one liquid.
All the shops, cafes, souvenir shops, and most importantly, the DIVING CENTER (which was another main reason for our booking there) on the territory closed down. All these structures are in terrible condition like sheds standing on the territory, and during our visit, a couple of such shops were being dismantled.
There are three slides by the pool that small children are not allowed to use, and two small slides for young children, but they are in very poor condition, rusty and dangerous, with holes on the surface. It's up to you to decide whether to let your child go there or not; my 2-year-old daughter rode them and was happy. FOOD: Nothing special at all. Sometimes in the evening, they served fresh watermelon and melon. We liked the rice. In general, food was just enough not to be hungry, but there was no abundance at all. You just need to try and stick to what you liked in the following days.
Morning bonus - freshly squeezed juices (FOR A FEE), and the same guys make fresh juices and cocktails on the beach (FOR A FEE), but the more you buy, the less you pay. Bargain, but they're worth it! I even met people who specifically went there for these cocktails and ate nothing else, they were on a so-called detox.
The beach is the highlight of the place, with a large semicircular lagoon where children swim, and then a long pier to the reef. The reef near the descent is terrible, but no one minded if we swam further beyond the buoys, and that's where all the beauty of the local reef is; this is why we go to Egypt, and it made our days! Talk to the person sitting there from time to time, and if you swim well, he will tell you where to swim. We saw rays, many different fish, slugs, corals, and shells.
Very cute little goats; my child really liked them. We learned about this place on the day of departure. Very few people! It was just great! There are always sun loungers both by the pool and by the sea, always empty everywhere. There seems to be a clinic; it says it's open 24 hours, but I haven't seen it working. Friendly staff, and the animation team. 4 out of 7 days...
